Question about digital OPK

HI all, I'm new to this and I'm a little confused about OPKs... Currently I'm using the digital ones because I was a little worried the others might be hard to read but I finally got some on order. Anyhow, the digital ones tell you when you are at no, high or peak fertility. So question, do the once it reads peak, does that mean that I am currently ovulating or am done ovulating? The last cycle, I tested on a Monday and it said none, next day it said peak, and the next day it said none.

I'm just confused as to why it jumped from one day being none, next peak and next none. When did I ovulate?

Thanks!

I have heard that people can have a very short peak in their LH cycles, and for that reason some ladies test twice a day or more. Once in the morning, once before bed, and that way you don't miss the small window that might indicate you're ovulating.

Depending on the sensitivity of the OPK, you could have anywhere from a few hours to a few days before you ovulate once you get a positive result. The ones I use say that ovulation can occur within 48hrs of a positive.

The problem is that some kits say to use only with first morning urine, some say to take in the middle of the day, and so on -- and then they all have different ideas on how long your fertile window is open after that first positive OPK.

Then there's the cheap ones you buy in bulk. Sometimes those don't have any directions at ALL, and you just get a box of test strips... lol

Mine also says that you should stop taking the tests once you get that first positive result. I still test for a couple of days after just so I can get a feel for how long my surges last.

I wish there was an industry standard for these! So that no matter which brand you used, you could follow the same basic set of directions and whatnot. Oye.

Peak (solid) means that you're set to ovulate in the 12-48 hours. I've had it go from none to solid in the same day and I actually got a BFP that cycle. The peak just means that you caught the highest surge at the time you tested. You likely ovulated on the day you got the peak or the next.

I used a digital opk for the first time this cycle and read the little insert inside and out (because I am neurotic like that)... It said that it is not uncommon for the test to say no fertility the first day you start using it (because it takes a day to actually fully start working properly... Or something along that line) then peak the next day. The first "no fertility" day may have actually been a high day.

Interesting! My OPK insert didn't mention anything like that. I wonder if it's true for other brands, and they just don't mention it?

When I used mine, the first day was negative, and the second day skipped right by with "high" and went straight to the "peak" symbol. Maybe that's why it happened that way for me! Hmmmm.
