As far as I can remember, you are allowed 2 rounds of ICSI at the GRI.
I had my fertility treatment there and it was straightforward IVF rather than using ICSI - and we had 2 rounds.
Have you had your initial appointment yet - they have a wee chart in all the consulting rooms telling you how many rounds of treatment you are allowed.
If the 1st round fails, you don't go back on the waiting list.
When our 1st IVF failed in April 2011 we then had a review appt with the consultant in May 2011 to see if there was anything with regards to the drugs protocol etc that they would change for the 2nd round. In our case they didnt change anything, as I responded really well to the drugs 1st time round & had a good number of eggs etc.
We were just advised that we could have our 2nd try whenever we felt ready, and it's just a matter of phoning up to get yourself booked on to a treatment cycle that co-incides with your AF dates & stuff. We didnt wait too long, as our 1st cycle failed in April, and we started our 2nd round mid-July. I kind of wanted just to get on with it
that's amazing! that makes me feel a lot more hopeful, thank you so much I don't know what made me think it was only one try, the pessimist in me I guess
sorry to bring up my old thread when will they get in touch with me, is it a while before I start IVF? I'm thinking I will need to have tests and things, is that right? will I have those tests when I get to the top of the list (may 2014) or do I have them in advance and start the actual injections and things in may 2014?
