Hey ladies,

I have my blood work done about 10 months ago now, which showed my FSH and LH (think that is right :S) are normal but my progesterone levels are low (3 i believe) meaning i don't ovulate.

But my Fertility doctors told me to test on day 3 of my cycle, day 21 and 28.

But what i am wondering is, my cycles are average at about 46 days. (Range between 40-60 days).
Would this cause the Progesterone test to come up as wrong?
Because if my cycles are alot longer then the normal 28 days then wouldn't i ovulate later on.

For example this cycle just finished was 49 days. I wouldn't have ovulated until day 35. So wouldn't the test be inaccurate to this cycle.

It's just i'm wondering if i should ask to check again seeing as it's been nearly a year since the last and i'm not back till October now my appointment has been moved from August, and i'm worried the test is saying im not ovulating just because my cycles are much longer then then normal.

Because if it's right i'm not ovulating i am considering taking some vitamins to help. I am temping this cycle as well as OPKs to see as well.

Anyone have any advice? Or anyone had the same issues..

i would go back and mention how long your cycles are as if they tested for something they needed to test for after you ovulated and you hadnt ovulated when they tested the results would be wrong..

Thank you i was thinking that the days could be wrong, which is why im temping and using OPKs this month to see.

I would definitely go back. Since you have been trying so long, maybe you should ask for a referral to a specialist. I go to a fertility clinic and I have blood tests done repeatedly throughout the month to ensure that things are ok.

I hear that people end up with a miscarriage because of low progesterone so maybe that's the issue. Apparently the average person can take progesterone after O to help the egg stick even if they have ok levels to start with.

I was told if your cycle is over 40 days you prob wont ovulate mine are now around 30 days but my longest was 65 days.I would defo go bk to see your doc. There are also lots of apps and sites that can help you keep track of when you should ovulate I find these helpful.

I see a specialist already, but my appointment has got moved to October from August.
i last saw her in November and she wanted to see me again in roughly 6 month's which was my August appointment but it got moved so it will be nearly a year. She wasn't going to start me on Clomid until my BMI was near 30.

But i'm thinking i ask my GP when i see her if she can do anything, seeing as it will be a year since i was last at the fertility clinic.

Have you had a day 21 test done that's how I found out I wasn't ovulating I am bk at hospital end of month to see if my bmi is under 35 to mayb start clomid.

They should have you test at CD 21, the repeat each week after till period shows up.
I am the same though, long cycles, late / no ovulation, Pro-e is below 3. Tested too early most times but still taken after FF says I've ovulated. See specialist today.

Hey, it is so frustrating waiting on the doctors. We want to be pregnant now, we don't want to wait a year to get another appointment for help. They should understand. I would go to your GP and ask them to refer you to another specialist. And yes you can still ovulate while having longer cycles, but CD21 blood work isn't going to show it if your cycles are longer then the norm, like you said, you would ovulate around CD35 so they should test you 7 days after the assumed ovulation. Definitely do opks, test twice a day, some women have a short surge...I know I do, I only get one positive opk. And also maybe try charting your with Body basal temperature, this should show you if you definitely ovulated after an opk...we cant wait on the doctors forever, we got to take matters into our own hands. If you havnt already heard of it "vitex" goggle this and see if its something you may consider taking to help shorten your cycle. I wish you lots of luck with your TTC journey.

My doc said the test should be done the week before AF- so for your cycle it would NOT be so early.

I didn't know that, i will have to ask when i see my GP because she can do the test's for me. Least that way there be there for the Fertility doctor to look at.
They tested me at day 21 and day 28, but that is why ia sked if those days could be off.

I use FF and another app on my phone. I have also started temping as well, will be using OPK's, when do you think i should start using them , i'm only cd3 now ???

They should do the CD21 test a week before AF is due, so depending on your cycle, it may or may not be done on CD21.

As far as OPKs go, since you have long cycles, i would recommend using ICs so you can test a bunch without going through a ton of $$! Just do 1 a day starting around cd14. Once the second line starts to darken up, start doing them twice a day until it is positive.

Good luck :)

Thank you for the advice, i will note on my calender when to use them. I'm going to keep them all anyways so i can see any difference through the month.

Hi Bambina

I get ur pain there with the long cycles.. I do have really wacky long cycles too.. some go more than 60 days in length. I noticed if I don't ovulate up till cd30, then I kno the cycle wud b long and ofcourse without any ovulation. last year I had a cycle of 60 day long, had a breakthrough bleeding and started a new cycle after it. I went to my GP and she told me to do that CD21 blood test, but I ovulated between CD6-CD9 in that cycle as I had EWCM on day 6.i started using OPKS after CD 15 as that is what i normally do for my normal once in a while 25 day cycles, and still went to the CD21 bloodtest to figure out anything i can out of it. And guess what, i had my periods on CD22, went to my GP 3 days later and she goes why is your prog level so low!! i was so annoyed...
