I haven't had my follow up appointment with my doctor yet, but I saw my pathology results online and wondered if anyone had a similar experience. The pathology showed basically a big empty gestational sac with no "fetal parts". The part I'm confused about is where it lists that the placenta was either a hydropic degeneration or a partial molar. Apparently they couldn't determine which and I'm supposed to track my hcg.

I've found some information about partial molars but found next to nothing on hydropic degeneration. Does anybody have any experience with either? So lost right now.

And to make things worse, my husband and I dtd 4 days after I had an hcg reading of 30. I thought my levels had been doing fine and it had been over 2 weeks since the procedure. Apparently if it was a partial molar, you are supposed to wait 6 months to try again. I really hope I don't have to tell my doctor about that :/

It's s little different but on my previous loss at 18 weeks our baby was hydropic. They said it can be a sign of infection, but isually just because baby had been sat in the water dead and with no blood flow. I'm not sure if the same would apply to the placenta but I imagine so x

I am currently being monitored for a partial molar. I am nearly 5 weeks post d&c. You are advised to wait until ttc again.....until HCG drops to normal and then some (depending on the specialist centres guidelines)

Did you find out yet if it's pmp or something else? Or nothing x

I finally had my doctor appointment but I still don't know whether it was a partial molar. I read online that it can be hard to tell sometimes. My HCG is down to 3 now (after 4 weeks). He told me to wait a couple more cycles but I'm not sure if that's because of the possibility of it being a pmp or just what he normally tells people.

He actually didn't even explain anything at all about it being a partial molar. I saw it on the ultrasound notes. He just quickly said something about it having irregular cells. I'm really happy they post test results online because I feel like sometimes you have to be your own doctor.

How long are you supposed to wait? Is your HCG back to normal yet? I've had my first period now and I'm honestly not sure if we will end up waiting another few months or not.

Have they not referred you and/or sent the tissue to be analysed? Doctor can't just at abnormal cells and not follow up with any explanation??!! I would be pushing to get a second opinion seriously!

I had my first period last week....5 weeks post d&c. Awaiting my next hcg result this week....last one only 3.5 weeks post d&c was 31.....and 96 be for that so coming down. The centre I have been referred to state not to try until negative and then negative at 4 weeks later

As far as I know, it was originally examined by a pathologist who said it was either partial molar or hydropic (not 100% sure what that means). It said on the report to track HCG down to zero to determine if it was a pmp. I'm assuming the tissue is already long gone so I don't think a second opinion would help. I really wish they would have given me more information! My doctor didn't explain any of it to me and I only know about it from my own research. I'll probably look for a new doctor next time!

It's good to hear your doctor seems to be more on top of things! I hope your HCG makes it back to zero soon :)

Any update?

Nothing new. The doctor just said to try and wait a couple of cycles before TTC again. I'm going to try and find a new doctor when/if we are pregnant again since I didn't get any information from this one.

How are you doing?
