I currently claim WTC as I work and OH doesn't. When the baby arrives we will be entitled to CTC at a decent rate.

Does the CTC get added to the existing claim for WTC? Or is it a new claim?

If not could OH claim the CTC in his name (as he will be primary carer for baby when I go back to work)?

makes no difference which one of you claims it as you claim as a couple anyway - i have never had wtc, but i know on my ctc award letter it covers wtc so i guess you would just add it on

Your claim as a couple will be assessed if your OH isnt working you wont be getting WTC anymore, Just the CTC x

We will get both WTC and CTC. I work and am counted as working whilst on maternity leave for the first 9 months, when SMP is paid. Once SMP is up then I am no longer counted as working until I return to work.

WTC is currently a joint claim, but in my name.... I am the lead and claim for myself with a financially dependant partner.
I'm aware that CTC is a joint claim as well. But what I would like to do if it is a separate claim is for OH to claim for us as the lead. Therefore he will have an income in his name. It makes things a bit more equal for us.

dunno like i said i dont ge wtc but there is a bit on the award letter that says CTC - £xx.xx and WTC - £00.00 so not sure if you can make them seperate claims guess you can only ask i am just assuming as its mentioned on my letter that if we were entitled it would be on the same claim

Oh right i see, No your make them seperate claims you can have the money paid into your OH's bank account though i think but the claim will be in your name if you are the one working.

In a joint claim it makes no difference who actually claims for it as you just choose whose bank account it will be paid into. The award notice will simply show working tax credit being paid to you and child tax credit being paid to your OH if that is what you choose to do.
