question for those on fragmin....

So you're on Fragmin, but they're not checking INR's? How do they know you're dosing appropriately?

I had my first DVT at 16, another at 23, and was told that I'd need to take anti-coagulants through pegnancy.

I had a dating u/s at 11 weeks, and another at 19 weeks. As far as I know, thats it.

all i know is take 2 injections twice a day and officly after the babys born they will put me back on warfarin...

They don't check your INR because lmwh works differently to warfarin so you would have an INR of around 1 if they tested. (Remember when you started on the warfarin? They would have given you injections immediately and then slowly ramped up the warfarin to get your INR into range - you were already protected by the lmwh whilst they got your INR level right and then you could stop the injections as the warfarin took over)

What they should be checking while you are on the injections is your anti-10a levels which shows whether you are on the right dosage (pretty much the lmwh-equivalent of INR but it is a lot more stable). They only have to do that once a month or less. Lmwh dosage is calculated by your weight so it is possible that it might need adjusting as you grow, although I believe the weight brackets are quite wide so you might go through your entire pregnancy on the same dosage.

PS: I'm on the innohep tinzaparin, too :)
