Hi,
I found out I was hypothyroid last September. I began with 50 mg and felt better but my doctor wanted it increased to 100. I looked better - had a blush in my cheeks but felt some heart palapitations. I got checked again and was 0.036 - so he moved me to 75mg. I do not have colour in my checks but no palpitations.
I read recently, that a bit below one is still in the optimum range for ttc. I will be back soon for a recheck to see where my tsh is now but wonder if should have stayed at 0.036?
Thanks:flower:

hello. i'm hypothyroid and on 32.5. what u take sounds a lot but it's very individual. maybe if i tell u my results it helps you. i started with tsh 3.2 and ft4 - 13 (at lower end of norm). took 50mg for 6 weeks and it went to tsh 0.6 and ft4 - 19 (at high end of norm). my doctor lowered the dose to 32.5mg and i haven't done the tests yet. now the norm is 0.3-4 for tsh but for pregnancy should be around 1. what's important, the working hormone is ft4 and tsh - regulates it. so what u really should be looking at is ft4 at higher end of norm, it doesn't matter what your tsh is if your ft4 is at higher end of norm. of course is related but make sure u have both done. also remember that as soon as u get pregnant need to redo the tests and up the dose because the pregnancy hormone binds ft4 and remove it from action, normal thyroid make up for it ours doesn't so u need to upper the dose. if too much sorry, hope it helped

Im underactive but i cudnt tell u what my levels are lol. Im on 125mcg a day but that got increased a couple of months back after a low level came back. My main concern with my levels at the mo is that i have raised prolactin which can be bad for TTC. I had another blood test last week so im hoping its reduced now with the higher does of thyroxine

those two are connected. underworking thyroid can make prolactin higher. so no point reducing prolactin until u sort out thyroid. good luck

Hi there I am Hypothyroid on 100mg per day. My doctor cautioned me about lowering my dose while trying to concieve and in the first 3 months as being too low can cause extreemly low IQ and other issues with baby and too high can cause miscarriage. She told me to wait till I was stable before ttc.

I had been TTC for over 2 years. Part of that was with fertility treatments on Clomid to make me ovulate with no success. Recently put TTC on hold for my sanity and also treatment for horrendous migraines. While trying to figure out what was causing the migraines my doc discovered I am hypothyroid. I'm hoping this is the problem since they never found anything wrong with me or DH except for maybe I wasn't ovulating before. I have been on 60 mg for 1 month now. Feeling better, but won't know what new levels are until mid-september. I am really hopeful that once we get levels under control this will be the key. Already my cycle seems to be affected by meds. I'm still trying to learn what my levels should be to make sure that the doc is not just aiming for normal, but aiming for optimal levels for fertility. I'm going to get copies of my last test results this week, so that I can try to understand the numbers.
