Question on LH surge and when you ovulate

I use opks and had my LH surge about lunchtime today. By this evening, the test line has gone down a bit - it's still pretty dark but slightly lighter than the control line, which makes me believe the LH surge is on its way down again. My question is, when did or am I likely to ovulate? Is it when the opk is still showing a surge or when its gone negative again? I.e. do you ovulate when you're still surging or after its dissipated? Hope this makes sense. I thought maybe ladies who are using opk'ing and temping might know the answer to this better than me! x

it says on internet that once your get a positive lh surge the egg will be realeased in next 12 to 36 hours so i would b dance as much as possible from now on! lh is produced as egg burst from ovary so at lunch time your positive test was as it burst through! lh is at its highest then! so id say your egg is just through n bd as much as possible from now, once he has cum dont get up and wee or wash just go sleep it take sperm between 25min and 24 hours to reach egg so i always bd before bed and lie on me back all night! xxx

ps have you felt your cervix??? if you have a feel its usually very high very soft like your lips and the hole is open about 1cm and probley a lottle ewcm around it, once ovulated your cervix will drop right down to a fingers length in and become harder like your nose and close up and feel like a hard ball x

Hi rhysmum, thanks for answering! Was a bit embarrassed to explain why I'm asking this question (as I feel like I should just be happy with having a healthy baby of either sex), but I really really REALLY would love to have a little girl for our second child. I'd read a couple of things about the Shettles method and now I can't get it out of my head. I have irregular cycles and a husband who thinks I should just chill out and not try to play god, so actively trying Shettles isn't really an option, but basically we bd'd last night and the night before - I got the pos opk today and as it's starting to go negative again this evening, I am thinking ov has happened or is pretty darn close - and I really don't want it to happen until tmrw really! We are not bd'ing tonight anyway as I feel like I have a bladder infection starting so it feels like we may have inadvertently tried a bit of Shettles!!!... if ov doesn't happen until tomorrow that is!... I don't temp tho so I guess I will never know for sure which day I ov'd!
