Hi Ladies

Well I'm 17 weeks pg with number 3 and I know I can't go on major rides, but we are taking my 9 year old to Alton Towers & although I am happy to stand and just watch him and my partner enjoy themselves, are there any rides there I can go on.... I was thinking the water rapids there are quite tame, i'm only in danger of getting very wet LOL, but I was hoping there are others very slow tame rides I can go on with him, I've not been for years, and I am actually quite glad I don't have to endure the fast rides as it will save me being sick as usual LOL x

So if any pg ladies have been to alton towers or any other UK theme parks of late, can you help me out and let me know x

any helpful answers x

I wouldn't go on anything that has a restraint, if it braked hard it could harm baby. So, just carousel, tea cups, ghost train that type of thing. Water rapids are probably ok. Not sure if they will actually let you on anything if you're showing though!

Really? Are those water rapids tame? Everytime I've been on them I've nearly gone flying overboard! Haha, is that just me?!

I went to a theme park two weeks ago and my husband asked at some of the rides and got told that no pregnant are allowed on them. I didn't mind too much because we were actually going for the water park and I had a good time in the fake beach/sea.

I go to AT every year and usually just do the coasters. We went earlier this year (I was 6wks) and took our little one and just did the kiddie rides!

I have to say there are not many rides you can go on at all! You'll have to look at the board for each ride but even the Willy Wonka ride that my 2 1/2 year old went on was unsuitable for pregnant women, something to do with vibrations! I don't usually do the water rides so I'm not sure, if you can't ride it would be due to vibration.
Unfortunately the website only gives the height restrictions for each ride not the other stuff!
The teacups are actually really fast now I wouldn't have gone on them while preggers!

We’re going in November so I’ll be 7 and a bit months by then. I asked Alton Towers and they said that for Health and Safety reasons they won’t let you on anything! But as your smaller and probably still able to hide it, you will prob get away with the little kiddy rides.

Personally I wouldn’t go on the rapids as I always get thrown right around on them, lol.

Alton Towers do however do a ‘pregnancy’ ticket for a reduced rate (think it was £18?) as we can’t go on anything!

I am now official bag holder for the weekend, lol. Although am also looking at popping to the spa for a few hours while we’re there :)

i honestly wouldnt go on anything. if anything happend i wouldnt be able to forgive myself. and im sure my OH wouldnt let me anyways, hed sit me down n get me a cuppa n tell me to wait. i got the alton towers tickets from the sun for sept but ill be quite big then. even so, i wouldnt risk anything except the arcade games. ive had to give my tickets away, i was so looking foward to going but my baby comes first and theres plenty of time in the future to go and enjoy myself properly.

Personally I wouldn't risk it. It's probably safer to just stand and watch.

I definitely wouldn't. Im not sure if its Alton Towers or Thorpe Park but on one of their water rapids you have to kind of..jump in while it's still moving. Wouldn't risk it really.

Last time I went on the rapids I really hurt myself as we jolted hard against the side, it was the exact moment the picture was taken and I bought it because my friend hit his face on the middle bars at the same time and we were both doubled over. Still makes me laugh now! But I would no way do it when preg as it was my hip/side that I banged and I wouldn't want to risk bubs - it isn't a very good ride anyway tbh.....

I have just been....I walked round he aquarium, went to the ice age4D experience (cinema type short film) and went on a tiny boat round a river in the very young kiddies part....that was about all I could o on.....the rides said no pregnant women so I skipped them all. I didnt want to risk it. So I didn't go on much.... But depends who you go with.....you can go to the spa see the animals in the young kiddies bit etc

I wouldn't go on anything either and in any case don't think they'd allow you to.

i went to drayton manor a few weeks ago, only things i could go on were the things my one yr old could! it sucked. EVEN the rapids said not suitable for pregnant people..they even had a little picture of a woman with a baby inside and a cross....as if words arent enough! i thought the rapids wud have been fine :(

Thanks you all ladies , well we went and I stood and watched them on everything, apart from the rapids we went first thing and got on early and thankfully it was as bump and bounce free as it could have been. No jerks or knocks and I felt fine. We got a pic and my son was made up because mum could go on a ride with him, x the rest of the time I spend sitting and laughing at my partner being a big wimp and my 9 year old being Mr Cool as he came off some fast rides LOL x

Lots of walking, and OMG I had no idea about the discounted tickets if pregnant! wil remember that for next time as my partner wants to take us all back in a few weeks x

I was lying on the bed tired from all the heat and walking last night! had a little listen to number 3 and they seem fine in there x:thumbup:

There's the squirrel nutty ride that I'm sure will be okay, the cable cars and teacups as long as you don't spin too fast.

The haunted house has restraints so I wouldn't risk it.

There is a sealife bit and that at alton towers though so can walk round that aswell :)

They won't allow you on anything if they can see you are pregnant. It's an insurance risk for them and since the incident there this week they will be on alert for anything.

As someone who spends time visiting theme parks around the world, I wouldn't risk any of them regardless of how safe/tame they look. I know from experience that even the tame ones can "snap" sometimes.

Glad it went ok for you :)

TroubleExpect: What incident?

The launch cable on Rita snapped and they were very, very lucky no one was standing underneath the ride when it did!

I can't post a link to it at the moment

Rita was closed when we went x I was wondering why x
