Yesterday I asked 2 friends if their second labor was easier........both responded at the same time "TAKE THE DRUGS"

That wasn`t the answer I was looking for girls!!!!!

lol, dont this will be my second labour I dont do pain very well, I got stung by a wasp and thought my arm was dropping off.

So think i will be defo taking the drugs lol

Lol, I did my first labour on gas n air n a shot of peth but am curious to know what it would be like pain free! I would like a waterbirth next time so I think if I cant waterbirth then il have an epi when we have our next bubba x

My second labor was only 3 1/2 hours active labor. I didn't have drugs, epis, or g&a with either one. Second labor was definitely easier, though it may have been due to the fact that I was so relaxed about where I was and what I was doing. First was a planned homebirth, but transferred to hospital with undiagnosed breech. Second was a planned unassisted homebirth. There was such a sense of accomplishment with doing things without drugs, I loved giving birth and can't wait to do it again!

my friend had an awful first birth including epi and forcepts.

second birth was wonderful. stayed at home til 9pm (contractions started in the afternoon) got to hospital and straight into pool and baby born drug free only 40 minutes later.

Oh don't lol. I had gas & air (well a tiny bit coz i don't think it helped at all lol) and pethadine. This time i really am hoping on a home birth

My first birth was really fast, but I was totally unprepared because I had planned on having an epi, so was a bit panicked during transition.

My second I was much more prepared for, and while it lasted longer, it was less crazy/more relaxed. Pushing was actually harder the second time, but that is relative - was only like 3-5 pushes to deliver my first; trying to NOT push until everything was ready was harder. My second was about 10 pushes, but she had a bigger head.

Will be interesting to see how #3 is different!

lol.......I am the biggest wimp!! last time I was screaming for the epi, but they kept telling me it was too late....18 hour labor, and 6 hours before birth I asked!! TOO LATE MY ASS!!!

that sounds more like it lol:happydance:
I also had a hell of a time first time round.....back to back long 18 hours, ended in episiotomy, and I tore so two seperate wounds, then the forceps:dohh:

lol, i was screaming for the epi at 2cm, actually wanted to chuck myself out the window was in agony lol.

they were telling me it was to early lol, my birhting partner likes a drama, boy oh boy is she gonna get one in the next few days lol.

melanie

I think they can be a bit more intense but thats cos theyre generally a lot quicker. No drugs for me :):) I'm having my baby at home so wont be able to have an epi even if I scream for one, haha. Water and hypno only.

I had a epidural first time around but didnt need or want it second time, second labour was much quicker and a better experience

Had a rough time with #1 (resulted in undiagnoised breech at 9cm, EMCS under GA) yet #2 was totally drug free and wonderful, I used hypnobirthing too.

thanks ladies....nice to know there is some hope & if all else fails there is the HARD DRUGS!!!:rofl:

my first birth wasnt great really really long labour over several days and 2 1/2 hours pushing then ventouse assistance so really wanted to make it easier on my body second time so i picked to be mobile with my tens ( even with induction ) and it was under 8 hours with 7 pushes lol so much easier so im having this one at home

My 2nd one was EASY! 2 hours start to finish...little bit of gas and air and that was it...I didn't even really get to push it all happened so fast
I just got shouted at to pant as she was coming ready or not

I think that what makes a second labor easier than the first, is that, hopefully you have had a chance to feel how intense contractions can be. So, you'll at least have an idea what you're in for! With my first labor I decided on an epidural because I was not prepared for the pain of the contractions...I felt nothing when I delivered. With my second birth I was determined to have no pain medication whatsoever. I just changed the way I thought about the contractions and kept moving up until I was ready to push. The second time around was so precious in the sense that I felt my son being born, I felt him kicking on the way out, it was amazing! I fullly believe that you can accomplish whatever it is you put your mind to! Best of luck with your second labor!

My SIL said that for her second she totally panicking, thinking this is so much worse, but in reality it just happened much quicker, so it was better. Her third was much easier again.

I cant imagine ill expereince much different between my second and third as its twins lol, but im hoping for a much shorter labour this time.

My 2nd was a dream compared to my 1st hun, my nan always used to say 'once you've had one, the rest is like shelling peas!'
