Hi, ladies :flower:!

I have a quick question about baby registries. I would like to start some online. Does anyone know if the register becomes "public and searchable" once it is created online. I'm almost 12 weeks....so it is still what I would consider, early. I'd just like to work on the registries, but not have them available to search yet. Has anyone created an online registry and know whether or not you have the option of doing that? I'm in the US and will probably register at Babies R Us, Target, and Wal-Mart.

Thanks bunches :).

Tracy

Hmm, Im not certain as I will not be registering but I would think you could start it online, then not complete it just yet which should give you the opportunity to 'save and edit later' - at least I would hope so otherwise you would either have to make an incomplete registry public, or create and finish one all at the same sitting. Wouldn't make much sense to me. May be worth a try to just do a 'test' one with fictitious info....or a call to customer service may be less time consuming. Happy registering!

I know on Amazon that you can have a registry and keep it private. Not sure about the others. I agree with Gia to create a fake one and search for it. :)

No registry/shower Gia???

No registry/shower Gia???

You know, hubby and I talked at length about this and decided against it for a few reasons - the first being that his family lives 3,000 miles west of us and my family lives 3,000 miles east of us, so a shower wouldn't be practical. So far as registering, I dunno, me being 40 and he being 48 it just felt odd to me to be setting up a registry as I guess the older I get the more particular I am with my preferences and with this economy felt badly about it if that makes sense. Instead, I have chosen 3 non-profit charities that we support and have asked that anyone wishing to help celebrate our son, to make a charitable contribution in his name to one of those charities that we support.

That's a wonderful idea with the charities. I may ask my friend to do that with the "Sprinkle" she is insisting on throwing for me. Yes, insisting...even though we have everything already and people will buy gifts because they feel obligated. *sigh*

**Sorry to hijack your thread Tracy**

Tracy, you have 3 boys, right? Do you have a feeling this may be your girl? :)

What a great idea, Gia7777! Our local traditions sort of dictate that there will be shower(s). I'm in Western NC and both sides of the family are within an easy 30 minute drive--grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. Since it has been 12 years since there's been a baby here...all the "stuff" is gone....mostly to local agencies who help young mothers. Even my mother-in-law is all a buzz with the "ohhh....it might be a girl....we get to have a shower fever!" I have 3 boys (12, 15 & 16) and although I have absolutely no preference, everyone seems to think this little one must be a girl. I've made the statement multiple times......I think if I had 20, they'd all be boys :winkwink:. I'm sure these local agencies will benefit again from the generosity of our family and close friends as this little one grows up :). Again, thanks for sharing....that is an awesome idea. What a great, generous way to honor the newest member of your family!

Yes, three boys :). They are over the moon. I will be thrilled regardless....seriously. A little girl would be nice, but I "know" little boys. This baby is going to be SO rotton. I have a feeling if it is a girl, it will only be more rotton !

Thanks girls! Though both your 'Sprinkle" and Shower sounds like so much fun. I guess that's one of the many downsides to being a transplant in a particular place, family and some friends tend to be in far way places!

Tracy, if this LO turns out to be a girl, she'll be one very protected little girl with 3 big brothers!

I wanted another girl only because that's what I know and I have all the stuff in my garage and playroom closet! :haha: I honestly would have been super happy either way though.

I agree your LO will be very protected, especially if it's a girl. Are you finding out or being surprised?
