I'm considering going to the hospital in pain (bad pain) but I'm not sure what they do in the 2nd tri. Will they do a scan?!

What kind of pain hon? and they might do a scan I'm not sure.

I know they do scans if you have pains in the first tri. I'm not sure about the second. It's really bad and it's not fading.. I wouldn't be so concerned if it would go away. Me and OH had an arguement earlier and I'm just so worried that I've hurt it. I wanna know it's O.K. :(:(

I would go ahead and have it checked out, just to be on the safe side.

What sort of pains are they? Where are they?
If you go to the hosp now they won't scan you straight away - you'll have to wait until there's a sonographer in to do the scan.
The best they'll be able to do now is give you an internal to check the cervix is still closed.

I've had terrible pains in the last couple of weeks, to the extent of being doubled over but I haven't been too worried as there's been no bleeding.

Can you describe how the pains feel?

Call your doctor and tell them what you're feeling, they'll probably tell you to go in. Get it checked out hon, just to be sure :hugs:

I have an infection aparently. He said if I hadn't have seen him tonight I would've woken up with a fever and probably shivvering! Babies fine I assume, he didn't really seem to be concerned :)

This happened to me just a few weeks back. I was hurdled over in pain at 5am and ran straight to the hospital. Turned out I had an infection. After a week of baby-safe antibotics everything had cleared up.. Phew!

Glad you went ahead and went :hugs: feel better soon

This happened to me two weeks ago, I had pains in my lower abdomen that wouldn't go away so I called the emergency room and they said to come in since they wouldn't be able to tell what it was over the phone, i'd say call the hospital and see what they say but they'll probably tell you to come in to make sure nothing's wrong

I wouldnt rely on them giving you a scan. It might just be my hospitals procedure, but they say they like to limit scans in the 2nd tri. Im not sure why. Not sure why. I heard that when I was doing midwife training as well. By all means go though, if you think itll put your mind at rest. I know how scary it is.

Have you tried NHS direct as well?

Hope you start to feel better soon hun :)
