rant about follow on milk..

have you not read what iv wrote? They made it so they could advertise, thats your con there.

I think follow on has been there before the ban to advertise stage 1 milk. Here they'r not allowed to advertise follow on. They only advertise toddlers milk.

my midwife also said that they actually dont need that much iron

I really doubt the sole purpose of follow on milk is to advertise :dohh:
To be a con they would have to somehow trick people, and since it costs the same and has more nutrients that older babies need that's something good and useful.

It has tons more than just extra iron.

ETA: My point is just that calling it a con will make people think it's useless when it really isn't and that might put people off trying it.

follow on milk....toddler milk.....growing up milk....
£££££!!!!!
my son who is 6 never had any of these stayed on normal formula until he was old enough to go onto full fat cows juice full time and he is as fit as a fiddle.
I won't be bothering this time either x

My nearly 10 month old is still on stage 1... I see no reason to change him as he is quite happy on it. Having said that, I think it depends on your baby, how they get on with their milk etc. There is nothing wrong with toddler milk, follow on milk... It's not really a con per see as it costs the same as first formula and is just as suitable. It's just a matter of personal choice and both follow on milk and first stage milk meets all of the nutritinal needs of babies up to one so go with whatever you want.
I do however agree that not a lot of iron is absorbed from milk anyway though, so it needs to come mostly from solid food whether you use follow on or first milk. Just because a milk contains more iron does not mean all of it will be absorbed.
