I'm really not happy :growlmad: i got my letter back from the job centre about my income support and apparently i can live off about a £103 in a month of them!. I'll get £25.95 every week paid fortnightly, how am i meant to live off that with a baby coming along and me not working anymore after my last day of work this saturday. It's an absolute p-take, my parents don't have all the money in the world to be able to support me and i can't rely of my friends and boyfriends family to get by.

This has just made me think i should have stayed in work til i popped, even if it wasn't the best hours in the world at least i got more of work than i will of income support.

Surely it's got to be wrong? Or is that really how much i've got to live off every month? :sad1:

I assume you are living with someone who is earning?
Once you are getting the income support you can apply for the sure start maternity grant (£500) which should help a little. You will be able to claim Healthy Start vouchers for fruit, veg and milk also, but if you are living with other people there isnt anything else you can claim until baby arrives.
The idea of income support isnt to provide people with enough money to live on comfortably, its to support the absolute basic essentials so it is only a small amount per week depending on circumstances.

maybe when baby comes it will go up. not sure though , my mate lives with her mum atm and has a lo n gets 60 a week i think it is, but i dont thinkher parents work either, well ive never known them to go to work. she did get less before but when lo came she rang n it went up, couldnt tell u what she got before though sorry xx

Ye income support does go up when you have baby, when you applied did you tell them you were working because if you did and your last shift is this week im ring them monday and tell them your circumstances have changed and it should go up if your not working anymore

hey if you had a job before hand did you check out Maternity Allowance?

srry cant help ont the income support, dont know anything about it tbh, but i think it may depend on who you live with etc

Thanks for the replys they are still messing me around it's gone lower now.
I told them when my last day of work was, and when my maternity leave started and i sent of my last pay slip aswell. I just don't get what they aree playing at.

You've left work .. are you not on statutory maternity pay or maternity allowance?

That seems very low. Do you live with someone? If so, they will take his income and assess jointly.
