i started using ready made cartons when i wanted to introduce formula as i have been breastfeeding lo.

However i am now ready to increase her formula feeds and cut back on bf - i bought a tin of formula and found that lo doesn't like it - i tried it myself and it tastes so different to the ready made carton

powder formula has an awful metallic taste- no wonder the poor thing doesn't like it

anyone else experienced this and did lo ever take to powder formula

i have a very expensive baby lol :) the cartons are around 50p each

Fin will take either, with no preference - though the ready made stuff gives him belly ache, so though i only used it on a rare occasion anyway, its really not worth the crying!

which milk you on? i am using the aptivil and the only difference i can make out is the smell although i have noticed shes not as hunger on the powder than when she is on the ready made stuff..

I was advised by my midwife to stay on cartons for the first 4 weeks, we did this wanting the best for my LO and i wish i hadn't. He will not go onto made up formula, we have tried twice. He wont drink it,he woke up every hour at night, he did 4 dirty nappies in one night and was generally miserable, grumpy and in pain. He is on Amtamil, and there is a big difference in taste as well as consistency, the cartons are thicker. They are 62p each and he can eat up to 40oz a day, so very expensive too. We have decided to keep him on them now because he seems happy other than a few wind issues.
If i had known what trouble this has caused i would have put him straight on too powder and forget the cartons!!.

lana is on cow & gate ready made with no problems
at the mo she is going through 2 big cartons a day, they are only £1.05 each

we give SMA - on follow on milk now

i wonder if it would make a difference if made it up with bottled water? might give it a try

Kirmal12 - i know its so expensive, i dread to think how much we have spent so far and i've only just really started - you must be spending a fortune, but as long as he is happy thats the main thing - we have posh babies lol

57pence, that's good!!, our nearest Asda is a bit to far away to go just for milk but i can combine it with going to Toys r us sometime!!. We buy 3 trays of 15 at a time and that lasts a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

My husband says he is going to be posh, my fault for giving him a posh name apparently, lol

Was your carton stuff follwo on? If not, maybe its the change in milk too as they taste very different :)

It is not recommened to use bottles water due to high miberal content. If you want to use bottled though, make you sure you aim for the lowest minerals you can x
