TMI:
This month is cycle 2 on clomid 50mg. My last period began 16th January 2010.
The OB/GYN put me on this medication because I have polycystic ovaries and although my cycles always lasted between 33 and 42 days, I believe I have always ovulated.
So, this month I bought some OPKs and as stated in the instrustions started testing on CD10. Although on cd12 I started having cramps and EWCM, all the symptoms came and went and I continued having negative opks. Saturday morning (CD15) I done a test and it was a faint positive so like thursday, Friday and obviously since , we BD and had to use preseed because I am completely dry and my body has already done the whole 'ovulating symptoms' thing?
Has this ever happened to anyone else? I am so confused about whats happening to my body right now!
We've been trying for 2 1/2 years and I had lap/dye last august.
We already have a little boy who is nearly 4 so it's not impossible just frustrating...
PLEASE CAN SOMEONE GIVE THEIR OPINION / ADVICE.....I'M PULLING MY HAIR OUT ! Thank you in advance :)

Hi

PCOS can affect opk results- some women with PCOS never get a positive, some get them all month- so it could be that. And some women have a very short surge and so miss it and never see the positive opk even though they are ovulating. Did you see any sort of fade in pattern at all that then seemed to disappear?? I would take into account all your other symptoms too- are you temping?

No not at all....I tested everyday starting Tuesday and nothing ( we BD anyway lol) then on sat morning a faint line, yesterday a strong line, then today another faint line . My surge day was yesterday. I know most people average ovulation on cd15 but I don't understand why my body would act like its ovulating if it isn't? Do you think the clomid would do this because it obviosly messes with the hormone levels??? x

Well I've never ovulated on my own in 5 years- I am on my first cycle of clomid and I got faint lines on CD12- then on CD13 I took about 10 throughout the day! I got a faint one in the morning and then it steadily got a darker throughout the day- ones at 8pm and 10pm were dark-ish but still negative- but then got a positive at about half past midnight that was a definite positive- it was blank again by the morning. It would have been really easy to miss it! My 21 day test has confirmed I ovulated on CD14.

I would say if your signs matched then it may well have been ovulation- but as you're not temping to confirm then maybe you should just keep BD'ing every other day just incase. Maybe think about temping next cycle??? (unless you get your BFP of course! :flower:)

p.s:- why don't you come and join us in the Clomid Club??

how do i do that?
This is the first time I've ever had any help. Because my cycles always varied in lenght I bought opks every month (spent a fortune) but I always ovulated.
Like I said, we already got 1 so there can't be that much of a problem ...can there?
I did start temping and it went from 36.1 - 37

Clomid Club is in this section- it's near the top of the section at the minute- it's called 'Clomid Club'- just post a 'hi' message and I'll respond. It's a thread where we chat every day and discuss all our clomid questions.

You need to buy internet cheapies for OPK's- are in the UK?

I agree with the others about missing your OPK easily...sounds like you probably would have had a +OPK on CD10 or 11 as you said you had the O symptoms starting on CD 12, but who knows for sure. I take my OPK late afternoon and if it looks a lot darker than the previous day I kick into full gear and test more often-if it looks close to positive, then I keep testing at every pee as it is that easy to miss! After doing this, you will get to know yourself better and not have to use so many tests. I suggest using Fertility friend and taking your temp along with checking Cm daily...after a few months you really get to know your body! It's hard work, but worth the knowledge

Spoke to OB/GYN today and I have an appointment for my bloods on Monday. He said it's likely that the opks were correct as I do ovulate but just need that extra boost so I'm keeping my fingers crossed :)

Good luck with the appointment. I would really think about temping rhiansweet84- it would confirm things for you xxx
