Aside from the usual tiredness etc I have for the first time today noticed my left foot is absolutely huge! I never got this puffy with my first at all and it is just one foot- no pain just looks like a balloon foot!

Is it worth calling out of hours or should I rest it and see how I get on tomorrow

Baby is moving fine and trying to do an 'alien' impression out my stomach

Hi
I'd ring. swelling in both feet is perfectly normal but if it's just one I'd ring your midwife, just to be sure.
Good luck. Xx

Have you tried resting it up? Like led on the sofa with your feet on the arm so slightly higher? Id try that first and then maybe popping it in some cool water. If it doesnt go then ring midwives and ask for advice x

I would call about it. They will likely send you to the hospital to get checked out, but it's worth it to be safe.

Both feet wouldn't be a concern (unless hugely swollen!), but one is a concern for blood clots. I'd call your midwife just to be safe.

I'd call, like the other ladies are saying its a little concerning that it's only 1 foot.

Call! I had a blood clot in one foot right before I found out I was pregnant. The er told me it wasn't a blood clot but a chronic vein disease and sent me to a vein specialist who told me they misdiagnosed me and I did have a superficial blood clot. They think it was caused by fertility medications. But please go see someone.

I agree with adr750 call immediately. I have 2 serious blood clotting issues and one sign for a clot is exactly what you're experiencing. In fact I'd take a baby asperin first while I get driven to the ER. All that needs to happen is have a part of the clot break off and make its way to your lungs. Go now.

Pregnant women have 4x the propensity to form blood clots than usual due to our hormones. There are SO many clotting conditions that unless you go to a specialist there's no way to know if you have a condition until you get a clot. I'm on twice daily injections and baby asperin to deal with mine but if you think something weird is happening, numbness, discolouration, localized tenderness, abnormal asymmetrical swelling - all classic signs - you need to get to an ER right away.

Thanks ladies - I ended up putting it up and fell asleep and swelling had gone by the time I woke up - spoke with my mum and the foot was the one I broke as a child and with the high temperature it caused odema.

I called my midwife who had me in and took my blood pressure and has said if it happens again to put feet up for a couple of hours then call if no change.
