really short cervix... why am i the only worried?

had an 18 week anatomy scan and had to have a vaginal ultrasound because the dr wanted to get a closer look at my cervix.

she discovered my cervix was 1.6 cm thick and seemed to be worried so she put on limited physical activity.. well i called my doctor to make an appointment that same week and my dr's nurse said tome that my ob doctor did not seemed concerned enough to make an appointment that week. or really concerned at all as i have had a shortened cervix with my previous 2 pregnancy's and delivered 37 weeks or greater. but the difference is my shortest with them 2 was 2.7 and i was around 28 weeks and here i am going on 19 weeks with a measurement of 1.6.. should they really not be worried? i am really worried and it is aggravating me that they have not suggested progesterone or a stitch to help. it almost seems like they are thinking oh well if she has it too early no big deal its just a miscarriage...

How frustrating for you! Is there a way for you to basically demand an appointment? Or to at least talk directly with your doctor so you can ask your question 'why isn't this significant since so much shorter and earlier than previous 2' and 'at what point do we consider a stitch or progesterone?'

I so feel for you plus im kinda going through the same thing. I had my first at 32 weeks but because I had preeclampsia he said I didn't have pre term labor I was induced. That was true, but also not true because I was already 3cm before I was induced and had been that way for weeks. I expressed my concern 4 times throughout my 1st trimester and even made an emergency appt. due to cervical pressure. Even at my emergency apt he ignored my request to have my cervix checked.

yesterday I had a scan (19 weeks) and sure enough I have 0.5-1.5cm left of my cervix AND my water bag is funneling im so pissed he ignored me because I think if he would have caught this early on I wouldn't be in such bad condition. Now I don't know what to do as far as treatment but he doesn't seem to think bed rest will help. he also doesn't really recommend the stitch

i have to call the doctor again tomorrow seeing that cell phone does not work at my house and no home phone. i asked the nurse why there was no appointment made yet and she said the doctor looked at the information sent over and does not seemed worried right now so she does not see a reason to warrant an appointment right now and she would call me when she heard from the doctor

I know!! im having that feeling right now! im thinking about going to er for 2nd opinion

my doctor still does not want to schedule a appointment... i keep calling and they give me excuses i am getting really annoyed... so far no contractions and there is good movement, most likely she will wait till my appt on january 2nd

im so sorry amber I really understand what you are going through. I called the on call dr this morning and told him my cervix was only .05cm and funneling. He didn't seem to worried either. told me to take it easy but no strict bed rest. I know its scary im scared too.

I would defiantly rest I would if you can just stay in bed,, if I was you I'd push your doctors that's your baby that your fighting for, don't let a doctor say its ok if you know you don't feel right
