Hi ladies,

My LP is really short. I'm not sure if it's 10 or 12 days, can you help me count?

OV'd on Friday 24th and got AF today (5th). How long is that? And does anyone else have such a short one?

Thanks for your help xx

Hi Emma,

It seems that if the OPK is accurate, your LP is 10 days. Is there any chance you might have been Ov'd earlier? The normal LP should be around 10-14 days. I will monitor this for few cycles just to make sure it is not an odd one.

Hope this help

I would monitor this for a few cycles and see what your LP does. Anything below 10 is not the greatest. Some women have seen success by taking b-complex vitamins to lengthen their LP. I've been taking them for a few months and my spotting has been greatly reduced.

I agree with above posts ..monitor for a few cycles to get a clearer picture. Mine was short too but was found to have low ferritin (something to do with iron i think) and my thyroid meds needed altered as levels were wayyyyy out! 6months later and things are all back within normal range. If you see the same pattern next month maybe a little blood test wouldn't go amiss just to check there isn't something underlying, but it could just be a little glitch. Best of luck x

Last month I o'd on CD25 and AF came 7 days later. Today I am on CD20 with no o according to OPK's. I am on thyroid meds. They actually found out that I was hypothyridic because of my irreg cycles. It did seem to help but they are still around 35 days longs. Last month was the first I tracked my LP. We will see what happens this month. I think we should just track it for a few months in a row and see what happens. KT

My LP is 7 days,I wish I counted 10! :)
Starting B complex today to see if it works, there is a thread about it on the TTC discussion page, go and check it out!

You're not alone. I used to have a short LP. If it's under 12 days it's considered Lutal Phase Defect. Basically it means your lining doesn't have a chance to mature enough to help the fertilized egg attach.
What I do is I take Vitamin B6 100mg on cycle day 5 until I ovulate. Then I take 100mg twice a day until cycle day 28, unless I've gotten a BFP because then I'd continue to take it on after that since it's pregnancy safe and can help with morning sickness.
Don't take more than 200mg if you are going to take Vitamin B6, because it can cause nerve damage.
You can also try an over the counter progesterone cream, or you can see a doctor and get on clomid and progesterone suppositories.

When you say spotting, is this before or after af? I've been taking b complex for a couple of months now. I started spotting about 4-5 days before af, that has never happened. It did extend my lp from 9-10 days, up to 12, so that's a good thing.

My last LP was only 10 days, but I had an abnormally long cycle of 46 days... I might start taking B Complex vitamins anyway just to make sure.

Is it safe to introduce B vitamins without talking to a dr first? I am already taking a prenatal vit and I'm on thyroid meds. If I do start taking them without talking to the dr, what dose and of which B6? B12? KT
