I love the way we're bringing up LO. We breastfeed, co-sleep, adopt 'rhythms' rather than routines, we are 'baby-led' as much as that is possible but...

I really want another baby. And I haven't had AF return yet. I bled for about 8 weeks pp but nothing since then.

I've been told about dropping night feeds and Maca (?) and I might give them a try. Obviously the co-sleeping arrangement will have to change :(

I'm not really in any rush though it took us 4 years to conceive the first time so I'm worried we'll miss out if I leave it too late but I'm also worried LO will miss out if we ttc now.

Help!!!!

Of course everyones bodies are different hon but I concieved DD while still feeding DS, he was just having 2 feeds a day but still sometimes in the night too. I hadn't had any period at all either. So I guess just carry on as you are for a bit and see what happens? good luck to you xxx:thumbup:

I know how you feel I want to try when my LO is 18 months (that is this month), but I STILL dont have regular cycles. I have had only 2 AFs since my LO was born first at 14 months. My LO does not sleep through the night (2-3 night feeds) and feeds on demand during the day. I hope things are different for you--good luck.

It's normal in my family to conceive while still BF and without any return of AF, so we make sure to use protection, so that I don't get pregnant. Obviously that's not true for everyone.

I'm going to try the Maca and Tom is quite close to dopping the night feeds anyway so we'll see how things go. Thanks ladies!

Are you close to weaning at all?? I am weaning Lani at the moment and I am showing all the symptome of my AF returning.... I still BF on demand and even though it is slightly less than before, I dont feel like we are missing out because of weaning early.. I want to TTC2 in January so understand your concerns!

I am pregnant and bfing, my af didn't return until 8 months, and were a bit irregular. Vit b6 helped move my ovulation back to normal and we caught the first cycle with it.

Your lo is still really young, I know how hard it is to wait but your af could come back anytime:hugs:

Just started but it's BLW and we're taking it slowly.

My long cycles prob arent helped by the fact that amelie is BF but I made the decision not to stop as her wellbeing is more important than me getting pregnant. I need to focus on the one I have already :)

i got my af back after 7.5 months, and it was all closely linked to weaning and after imogen stopped waking in night for a feed so hold in there it will happen. im now in my 2ww (if ive ovulated, i did have some symptoms but still not convinced i think its to not dissapoint myself lol).

This is paramount to us too. I just hope I'm lucky enough to have it both ways!

I recall reading an article explaining that period's return from a reducation in milk consumed within 24 hours rather than how long a baby doesn't feed for (e.g. not feeding through the night). Weaning in time should bring down the milk consumption and hopefully bring back AF for you. Mine came back around 7-8 months when solids really got established and LO dropped several day feeds in a couple of days.

My AF came back 8 months to the day, and Kayleigh still feeds almost as much as she did from birth, other than nights... but she still will sometimes wake for a feed in the night as well. She isn't on solids yet fully at all and still has days with only breastmilk and would be okay with only that, but I want her to at least get used to the textures etc...

Not much to add but wanted to say good luck!! :hugs::hugs: I hope to get pregnant while still BFing as well. My AF returned at 9.5 months. :flower:

Still no sign of AF:nope: I really want to get pregnant but we are blw too so Helen is dropping feeds pretty slowly. I did quite a lot of reading about fertility and BF and one site I read said that you are more likely to ovulate once there is a 6 hour period in 24 hrs during which your baby doesn't feed. We have this as Helen goes from 7:30 til at least 3:30 and then I often don't feed her again until 10 so really that's two six hour periods. I also read that feeding lying down and not using a dummy decreases fertility. I have stopped feeding her lying down and no longer feed her to sleep. However much as I want No. 2 I'm not willing to compromise her any further. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed that AF comes back soon.

I got preg while breastfeeding its not impossible, we still co sleep to.
