Really weird; i keep smelling/tasting.....

this really weird thing, almost like smoke or metal. im not sure if im smelling it or tasting it, if that makes sense but i think its coming from my nose. ivehad a blocked nose for ages and my sense of smell has been terrible for the last month or so. any one have any ideas what this is? xx

I have something like this only when I smell it, it smells sickeningly sweet. It happens to me like you said, during a cold or when I have a plugged nose. No idea what it is though.
