We are looking at getting a new car seat for our baby girl as she seems to be getting a bit big for her infant carrier. It has to be a rear and front facing as my lo is only 6 months, problem is I was told in mothercare today that I would be hard pushed to find a rear facing that will fit our ford focus. Any one have a focus that has a rear facing car seat? Thanks

Do you use it rear facing? The woman told me the seatbelts are to short to have it rear facing :s. This was the seat that I really liked as well :(

Have a look for one with an isofix base - one of the besafe ones perhaps. Even if your focus doesn't have isofix it may be very easy to retrofit. For my 56 plates focus it cost £15 for the part from Ford then oh was able to screw it into the pre-existing holes under the seat cushion. It was very straightforward but a mechanic would probably charge about £40 if you'd prefer.
The other option is to have fiesta seatbelts installed as they are lOnger. Also, mothercare are a bit rubbish for rear facing as they don't have any for babies over about 1 year (only britax first class plus). I think John Lewis has a few though.

I had a 2007 ford focus se and my car seat didn't fit unless the front passenger seat was all the way to the front. Had to get a bigger sedan - like buying a new car was what I wanted to do when I was 8 months pregnant!

BeSafe Izi Combi! We have a Focus with short seatbelts too. It's ERF (and FF when you want to change it) and the non-isofix version has been discontinued in some shops so you can get it cheaper! And it's SO secure, doesn't move a millimetre! We couldn't have retrospective isofix fittings as it is a 53 reg plate, so doesn't have the parts on the chassis for it. x

This is a great website:

We have a recaro polaric but only down side it doesn't recline a little when LO is sleeping but otherwise he is much more comfortable and still safe.

I have a 2004 Focus and a Graco Snugride 35 that's rear facing - we have it in the back center and it fits fine and the seats still can recline. We had a Britax seat given to us for when he gets bigger, but we haven't tried that one out in the Focus yet!

I have a 07 plate focus and have a concord ultimax chair which is rf and ff. my dd was rf for ages in it well over a year Old. It's has a seat belt tensioner built in for ff and is sooooo secure it will not move. Great carseats

We have the Britax two way elite in our focus. Fits beautifully, plenty of room in the front still and doesn't require Isofix. It can rear face for years, which is by far the safest way for a child (or adult, actually, but that's not practical) to travel. If you're anywhere near Milton Keynes, it's worth a visit here: https://www.incarsafetycentre.co.uk/. If not, it's a great website with lots of information. This website is also very helpful: https://www.rearfacing.co.uk/.
