Just wanted to share my experience with these products...
The Sony Camcorder is absolutely fabulous!
Its a hand-held Sony HDD DCR-SR75.
We bought it from amazon and its been brilliant.
Both the sound picture quality are great and its really easy to use.
Battery life isn't great - you get about 45 minutes of constant SP recording - constantly zooming in and out (we use it for recording bike track days!)
On the other hand... we bought a Vivitar digital camera "vivicam 8400" and its rubbish. Well... the pictures are fine but it eats through batteries - We use it very quickly to take a few shots about 3 times a week and the batteries need changing. I think because although it has a view-finder, there's no way to turn off the LCD screen.
