Recurrent Miscarriage Thread

Have been hesitant to post here lately. My last miscarriage and surgery was just over a year ago. I've had all the investigations I can reasonably get in my area and remain unexplained. Since my last miscarriage I haven't even been able to get pregnant so when I turned 40 in May I decided to pursue IVF.

I'm currently 9 weeks pregnant with twins after transferring 2 embryos on July 25th. I started bleeding just before my first u/s at 7 weeks, but surprisingly the tech was able to find two heartbeats almost immediately. I started freaking out the other day when the bleeding increased and managed to get another ultrasound. Couldn't believe there were 2 heartbeats and everything looked fine. Not even close to be relaxed, but there are days when I feel slightly hopeful. I'm on estrogen, progesterone, aspirin and prednisone as prescribed by the fertility clinic.

I have one DS that I conceived easily before all my miscarriages. Just no explanation. Really hoping everyone on this thread might find their solution.

Lovely news x

Do you start steroids at bfp? I mc on 20mg from bfp so I took 25mg from ovulation and upped to 30 on bfp (my consultant didn't know I increased to 30)

I made it to 27w and then had an abruption xx

Yes hope
Everything I take is from bfp.
I know alot of people take from ovulation. This is a question I'm gonna ask my consultant because if she's willing to do that then that will save me a trip to London.
If not I'm gonna get her to refer me to shehata.
Failing that there's a new drug being trialled for implantation failures. That's exactly what happens with me. Seem to get oh ok and it somewhat implants but doesn't develop much from there. Only ever seen a heartbeat once.
I've been to quenbys implantation clinic and was told I was a textbook case but unfortunetly textbook treatments aren't working :(

If you got some anyway I would take from ovulation despite what the consultant says

Mr Shehata prescribes the anti malaria pill now, hydro.... Something

I spoke to Mr S secretary today, well I say spoke, in between the tears I think she understood me. He doesn't have to much of a waiting list at the moment, oct 17th is his earliest appt but they trying to squeeze me in before 15th which is when my obstetrician appt is regarding my abruption

They also want a copy of my notes relating to last pregnancy and abruption, I wished her luck in trying to get them, I've been waiting 46 days and by law they have to send them in 40 days, mine haven't been returned by the consultant yet who was checking them before the issues them to me.....hmmm, seems very fishy to me considering they can find themselves in court over it and I could claim compensation if it has distressed me......

I've mentioned it to the child death overview panel and mr s secretary, they both seemed quite alarmed that I hadn't been sent them within 40d timescale

Xx

Girls the new drug is called NT100... It's being trialled at a few hospitals at the moment like Liverpool.. Newcastle and a few others. There's more hospitals starting in the coming months.. Anyone from Scotland the only one here doing it is Edinburgh
Tho Newcastle will accept u if ur willing to travel as they said they'd accept me...

Only downside is there is an age limit. I think it's 38. It's called the response study and the miscarriage association has all the info!!

They're doin it in America at the minute at an IVF clinic I think. As they can't understand how perfect embryos aren't implanting. This drug is some kind of protein supposed to aid implantation.

Hope I've got loads of meds... I just got prescrption before this pg went pearshaped so I suppose I could just treat myself. Doctors treatment plans aren't working anyway.
There's def something fishy going on in regards to ur notes. It seems they're going through them to cover up any mistakes.... Ugh it's just ridiculous what you've had to endure and it must make it worse that they're not playing ball...
Ur one tough cookie and u fight to the very end.

That's good that he hasn't got much of a waiting time. Tho I would mind waitin I'm seriously needing a break!

My losses just seem to be getting earlier and earlier and to have the endo scratch which is supposed to aid implantation.. It's seems to have made me bloody worse.
I'm just about getting a positive test then around 2 weeks later... Gone!!

I keep thinking surely surely one time it has to work... But 9 losses over 10 years ( well 7.. I took 3 yrs off to get married and stuff)... I'm seriously losing all hope.. I would have thought I'd gave had my rainbow by now but noooooo..

Soz for the rant I'm mega pissed off xx

Thanks for that Lou, not heard of that trial

Hi ladies, I'm new here. I have just suffered my 10th miscarriage and need some support :sad2:

Welcome angelmum

So sorry you have had so many losses hun, all the girls here are really supportive and helpful

Have you had any type of testing or been diagnosed with anything

Xx

I have had so may tests and the only thing to come back abnormal were my NK cells were high. I have tried steroids to suppress them but have still miscarried. the furthest I have got is 10 weeks. I am currently waiting to have a phone consult (I live in Australia) with Mr Shehata in the UK to discuss using the anti malaria tablet to treat my high NK cells, we are just getting the money together.

Maybe you need to add in intralipids

If you have the Chicago level II immunes test for nk cells, they add in intralipids or ivig to see what works best with your blood sample

That probably doesn't make sense

Xx

angelmum, so sorry to hear about your losses - I'm in Australia too.

I know a few Drs here that either do the whole Chicago testing, or will just prescribe intralipids based on a high nk cells diagnosis my FS is one of them. Feel free to PM if you want to know the name of the FS I'm seeing. I'm currently 22 weeks after 3 losses at 12-16 weeks and one early loss. While I was getting my intralipid transfusion I was talking to some of the other ladies getting it done at the same time and he seems to really tailor the treatment plan for each person, so maybe he might even offer the malaria tablets it's just I didn't need them. I know he said if I had another miscarriage there was further testing he wanted to do about compatibility between myself and my husband.

Yep, I had 5 x 250ml transfusions during the 1st tri. For ladies that were doing if they got 6 as they had one at transfer time as well

Wow angelmumtoo10.... U must be at ur wits end... So heartbreaking!

Ladies what's ur thoughts on progesterone suppositories. I'm just curious as to how everyone feels about them.
The 3 pregnancies I've used them in have been the 3 worst pregnancies for development. Prolonged the inevitable.
Probably nothing to do with the supp and were destined to fail early anyway but I'm just wondering what u all think of them x

Lou, they didn't make any difference to me symptom or loss-wise. I had three natural losses without noticeable delay with the progesterone. Some people react strongly to them, maybe I just don't

Angel, what was your steroid dose and how many losses did you have with them? I had to keep reminding myself that steroids can't fix genetic problems so we can still have losses with them. I had a blighted ovum earlier this year whilst on them. Now I'm carrying what will hopefully be my second steroid baby (five losses before starting steroids, one since).

I'm in a similar boat and I've decided to leave them out next time. As long as I'm not bleeding or spotting.

I had a fetal demise without them in January (development normal, heart just stopped)
Took them from BFP next one, which I MC in May as soon as I stopped them (development abnormal)
Then took them from ovulation on my first full cycle after that mc and BFP again only for the heart to stop exactly like the one in January. I stopped the pessaries as soon as the babies heart stopped but nothing came away, not even a speck, and I had an erpc 5 days later.

My first 3 mc were without them, as was my first rainbow. My next two mc were also without them, but I did take them for a few weeks to calm my uterus, when I was bleeding with a SCH, with my second rainbow. Xx

My first 3 losses I wasn't on progesterone. 2 of them were still missed miscarriages where I needed a D&C as there was no signs of anything happening naturally and one of them was a chemical so it was a bit like a heavy AF turned up a day or so late.
The next one was on progesterone and it was again a missed miscarriage - like the other ones. nothing happened when I stopped the progesterone.

Besides the chemical, I've never experienced spotting or bleeding that's a sign of a loss or impending miscarriage whether I'm on progesterone or not.

I took progesterone supplementation second time around and still had a loss, made no difference. However I take from 2DPO because without it my LP is too short for implantation.

I took 200mg prometrium, which made me tired and bloated but otherwise felt ok.

This cycle we are starting to TTC again and I have massively mixed feelings about it. I'm not sure whether to go back on the progesterone or not.
