I am just wondering if i should be concerned about bubs reduced movement if his heart rate is 150bpm on the doppler? Could he just be having a growth spurt?

Mine is very quiet too - I've just checked and her rate is 135bp. I'm not planning on calling, I'm just going to see if she wakes up in a couple of hours and if not, then I'll call. xx

PS - mine went through the same thing as yours when I was 27 weeks xx

Hi, i am sure everything is fine, but it really is important to get checked out if you notice a change in pattern. Even if just for your own peace of mind. Theres a really good sticky thread a the top of this board with some good advice on it.xx

If your worried deffo get checked out, even just for your peice of mind. xx

Please Please don't go by the babies heartrate. Just because the heartrate is normal doesn't necessarily mean baby is ok.

i have felt him move but his movements aren't as strong as they usually are. My belly usually shakes when he moves and now they are just light movements

So i rang my midwife but she isn't on call this weekend, so i rang another one and she was bloody useless. I told her the movements were reduced and weren't as strong and she said it is fine for 27 weeks, she didn't even offer for me to go into the hospital to be checked out. I also said i had increased watery discharge and she just said it is normal to have increased discharge in pregnancy! I am not stupid i know what should and shouldn't be happening. GRRR so angry now!

Go to the hospital hun, I would. I'm sure everything is fine but I'm a great believer in trusting your instincts. Go, even just to put your mind at ease. Good luck xxx

Are you allowed to just show up at the hospital, i thought you had to meet your midwife there or something?

Hmmm I see your from New Zealand, maybe you guys do things differently there but here in the UK yes you can just show up and they will put you on the monitor. I did that with my previous lil boy as he seemed quiet but as soon as I was strapped to the monitor he started kicking up a storm :haha: I was blushing a bit but the midwives said they would rather I go in and get checked and everything be fine than sit at home worrying.
Have you got a maternity unit at your hospital? can you give them a call? xx

I'm going up the hospital now. Brunettebimbo is right - better safe than sorry. BabyfromGod, hope everything is ok xxx

xx

I went to the Doctor yesterday with sore throat, headache and fever! He asked if babys movements where the same but he hadn't been his usual wiggly self and I'd had period like pains so he just wanted to send me in to safe than sorry. I was so scared!

I've been signed off work with fever and water infection and been put on antibiotics but apart from that everything is good.

Mine did exactly the same and the midwife said the same. Better to be safe than sorry.

thanks for this link.

I went to the hosp yesterday as i was worried about movements. Similar to OP... was getting movements but they felt different.... lighter.... MW told me off for using doppler as i told her his HB was fine on that... now im a firm believe that i know the difference between my HB and babys HB but she has told me to get rid of the doppler and judge solely on movements... if your worried about movements then get checked out!! Im gonna do this, gonna try and get rid of my doppler but i dont want to believe all is fine when it may not be iykim

over here (UK) if you have movement worries you should just call labour ward and they will make arrangements for you to go in.

:hugs: hope all is ok

xxx

Get yourself checked out- last time I had reduced movement the MW refused to see me and said go straight to the hosp to be monitored (which was 40 miles away) she said there was no point her seeing me and just looking at the heartbeat as it doesn't tell them very much, if there's a change in pattern u need to be monitored for 20 + mins. Not to scare u it's really common and im sure all is absolutely fine as it was with me- but just saying don't just go by the heartbeat x

Call again, or go to the hospital. Reduced fetal movements should be taken seriously, and you should never use the doppler as a reason not to call or go to the doctor. Hope everything is okay. xx

Thanks ladies. So i ended up going to the labour ward last night and told the lady at reception about how my midwife wasn't on call so rang another midwife on the list i was given and that she was useless. The lady at reception was lovely, i ended up bursting into tears so she got me some tissues and she got one of the hospital midwives to come see me and she gave me a hug and put the doppler on my tummy, and also the monitor and gave me a button to push when bubs moved which he did lots when i was there. I was left for 20 mins with all the monitors on me.

Anyway another one of my midwives partners was at the hospital as she had a lady in labour, so she came to see me and apologised about the useless midwife and said that reduced movement should never be ignored so i think that other midwife might end up in a bit of trouble for not taking me seriously. Anyway bubs was all fine and they said it was good i came in and if i ever have any worries to come in or call my midwifes partner (the nice one) so i left feeling happy.

Thats brill news hun :happydance: xx

ive had watery discharge and plenty of it since 14 weeks and bubs is fine so yes that is totaly normal hun! sometimes it even runs down your leg!... if the heart beats fine dosnt mean baby is ok he/she could be poorly hense why they are very quiet... if your really worried call your midwife but its pretty normal for them to have quiet days my bubs does then he kicks like hell fire the next

You can just show up and they can see you

I agree you can detect your hb on a doppler but I doubt your own hb would be 153bpm
xx
