AnyOne know what to do? From what I know the only thing safe is tums, so I take one before bed. But it doesn't help! I had to give up my spicy cheese dip cuz that was just painful. But even if I don't eat 4 hrs before bed it wouldn't help cuz that's how long it takes for it to come up and burn my throat while I'm sleeping. It then keeps me up for 1 to 3 hrs, it seems like every 5 min after u fall back asleep it hits again!

Hi hun!! I was having terrible acid reflux a few months ago but have since started drinking about 3-4 cups a day of warm water with fresh squeezed lemon and a bit of honey - you would think that the acid in the lemon would make things worse, but actually lemon is very very alkaline for the body and has the opposite effect IF you are religious about drinking it... After a while you should not have any heartburn or reflux and I haven't had to use any tums/maalox since - not to mention it helps keep you VERY regular. Hope this helps!!!

Lol! Thanx, I'm already mire regular then I want to be ;) but I'll try that, the only thing is water makes me gag, but maybe with honey and lemOn it might be ok. I just left my dr, ends up I had ti go in cuz my urine test came back with protein in it. So he said ti try gaviagon before bed. Is rather try ur natural remedy first though! The extra water intake will help with my water retention also :)

I take Pepcid 10 mg. doctor said I could take up to four s day. I normally take 2 but sometimes 3 throughout the day. Heartburn is tough!!!

A friend of mine recently recommended papaya enzyme. She used it throughout her pregnancy and it was recommended by her midwife. I haven't gotten a chance to check with my Dr about it yet, want to make sure it won't be a problem with all the supplements he has me on *sigh* (iron, calcium etc) but it might be worth checking with your own Dr. I've been using Gaviscon as that's what my Dr recommended. Good luck. I was up in the middle of the night last night with it so bad it was making me want to throw up. Probably should have just let myself throw up, would have probably cleared up the problem much faster.

Zantac ( ranitidine ) is the ONLY thing that works for me. I have tried tums/gavisocn etc but they don't help me at all......you can get Zantac extra strength over the counter. 150mg

Zantac is safe. I took it all during my last pregnancy and have just started needing it for this one as well. No script needed!

I haven't suffer much during this pregnancy but with Emily it was brutal..
I found drinking a glass of warm water really helped.. don't ask me why but my grandmother used to swear by it.

Mine was so bad last pregnancy the OB prescribed me omeprazole, it is a class b3 drug so only ob's will prescribe but 1 tiny pill once a day was a miracle cure, I was scared to stop taking it after birth cos I didn't want the reflux and HB to come back!! If I left the house of a morning forgetting to take it even if I was 2 minutes from work I would turn around and go home just to take it!!
