I need help! I have a 3 month old son who will only take 3 oz max every feed and when he has had enough will shut his mouth, turn his head and refuse anymore and cannot be forced to eat. He had thrush when he was 3 weeks old and it had quite a grip but that had gone now. He has been put on nutramagen milk from the doctor and is having blood tests every 3 weeks because he has a poor immune system. Recently I have been to the doctor to suggest reflux and they gave me gaveston but this has made no difference. I feel like I have actually lost the plot and my health visitor is a waste of space. She suggested that the 3 month old was playing me up and that his father should try feeding him instead. Which made me feel like I was failing to feed my own son. Someone please help. I wanted to try and wean him or put a little rice into his bottle but again HV said under no circumstances should I try because his tummy wasn't ready. My husband will not let me try now because he is scared. I have also gone down the route of teething and I am putting bonjela on his gums (just incase) but this is not helping.HELP DOES ANYONE KNOW WHATS WRONG WITH HIM!!!

Hi hun, did you try to move to the next teat size? If you'r using aviscon in his feeds he needs larger teats. Switching to Dr. Browns bottles really help with reflux. Hold him upright for 30 mins after his feeds, & elevate his cot while sleeping. Massage his tummy with warm olive oil before bedtime & swaddle to ease his relux pain. He needs some time to get over his reflux, there is no magical cure for it. Mine is suffering from reflux & we weaned at week 20 using baby rice but it didnt really help & he went off his bottles. Try to feed him in a dark room with no distractions & see how it goes. HTH, it's trial & error hun xx

Hi hun i know exactly how u feel, my son is now 5 months but has been difficult to feed since birth, he also had oral thrush and had to have 2 lots of treatment as it wouldnt go. our dr gave us nutramigen too but lo refused this due to the taste ( it is vile) so we have been given aptimal pepti which is no better, he is also on gaviscon in his milk. I dont have any advice hun, im kinda hoping someone will post with something else we could try to get him to drink more milk?????? Just wanted to let u know ur not alone hun xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

i too went through same thing as you. maggie had oral thrush which we cleared up was put on neocate and gaviscon and her feeds dwindled to about 5ozs a day i went through every possible cause teet size, changing bottles, teething, blocked nose EVERYTHING. Until one day id had enough and tried aptamil and shes started.drinkimg more. so i reckon it was the taste all.along cis nitramigen is meant to be worse than neocate and that was like brussel sprout juice!

can i as why ur on that milk?
