Jay's nearly 9 months and up until 3 days ago was drinking three bottles a day (one 7 oz bottle at brekkie, one 7 oz at about 1ish and one 8 oz bottle before bed at about 7pm). He eats well and has three meals a day.

The last two nights he's hardly taken any of his bedtime bottle :dohh: Last night he had 3 oz and tonight only 2 oz. I was praying last night that he wouldn't wake in the night for a feed and luckily he didn't :D

I thought that he would probably drop one of his feeds soonish but assumed it would be his lunchtime one. He's also been ill with a cold for about a week and was wondering if this may have anything to do with him not wanting his bottle

Just wondering when did your LOs drop down to two feeds a day?? I'd prefer him to have morning and night milk so any advice on how to encourage this would be great :help:

Ta muchly xx

Maybe you could decrease the lunch time one? Then he may want the bedtime one or more of it? It might be earlier in the evening though than what your used to but that might encourage it, then maybe slowly start decreasing the lunch time one until he drops it altogether?

I can't remember exactly if Im honest but Im pretty sure it was quite soon that she dropped an afternoon and bed bottle. I think I spaced them out more so she'd have one but it wasn't right before bed ...bottle bed it would be bottle, play/awake, very diluted juice, nappy then bed.

If my memory serves right.

LO will let you know what they want if its happening every night then I would go with the flow ...as they get older your giving them more solid foods and juice/water so maybe makes sense. Hope LOs getting a good bottle when he does have it and Im sure all is fine. Caitlin rarely touched the recommened milk a day :dohh: shes fine x

Jay was a bit better today, he only drank 3oz early afternoon and had an earlier dinner and then took 7oz before bed :happydance: I'm hoping this continues and that he drops his mid day bottle before his bedtime one.

Thanks for your advice

Hello! Ruby had dropped all her day time feeds and was having 9oz am (morning) and 9oz pm (bed) but all of a sudden she wants her late afternoon one again (5oz) and has dropped the pm (bed) one. She will sometimes have it and sometimes not but I always dreamfeed her what is left of it or all of it if she hasn't had any but either way she always sleeps the same and wakes up the same time lol... go with him and what he wants to do. Is he on 3 meals now? xx

Jasmine isnt drinking as much formula either. She has 3 meals a day and a big snack in the morning... plus water or diluted juice... so she is down to i'd say around 18oz a day. She doesnt have a big bottle in the afternoon... usually I make an 8 oz bottle in the morning and she doesnt finish it... and then a 6oz in the afternoon which she also doesnt finish... and then one before bed which she may or may not finish.

Hi!!

:dohh: Just when you think you have it sussed.... With Jay it's just constant adjustment and it looks like he wants to have less formula now, he's dropped about 5oz a day and is having a smaller lunchtime bottle.

Jay's having 3 decent meals a day and sometimes some fruit as a snack so I guess that's why he's drinking less, I just really want to make sure he doesn't start waking in the night for feeding as we've not long had him sleeping through!!

xx
