Morning all
I saw my consultant yesterday and she thinks I should have my tubes removed before I go for Ivf to prevent another ectopic. However I have just read that there is a small section of tube in the wall of the uterus that cannot be blocked or removed so an ectopic is still possible. I really don't want to have major surgery again. Hoping someone is able to offer me some advise before I have my first ivf consult x

Sorry oneday not sure mayb ask in our one tuber group maybe olive will know the answer.

To be honest, if it's just a preventative measure then I'd question it.

Thanks CurlySue I am hoping the ivf doc will know morecause I am rapidly losing confidence in my consultant x

Isn't it terrible that our fate is mostly in their hands - and we have to find out as much as we can and question them every step of the way - because they do not care like they should!!!!!!!!!

I would wait and seek the opinion of the IVF Dr, see what they have to say.

Having no tubes doesn't prevent ectopic with IVF as they can still embed in the stump of the tube. I know they remove the tubes often if they have hydrosalpinx as the fluid in them can be toxic to the new emby causing pregnancy loss. Because of the rate of pregnancy loss with hydrosalpinx they advise removing the tubes/tube to avoid the risk of loosing the pregnancy.

If the tube/s are not working I guess then they aren't really needed but with your tube/s in place even damaged there is always hope that you will get pregnant even if its not for 10yrs time without IVF or after IVF in a subsequent pregnancy. I only have one tube that is damaged and I am praying that it might work eventually. I am not at the stage your at but I am hoping if that comes then I can have IVF with my tube left inside (unless its going to cause pregnancy loss) I have heard women with blocked tubes getting pregnant after IVF and having more children so I always have the hope that even if I have IVF my tube might proform a miracle down the track. With it gone the IVF is the only chance of pregnancy. But then again it does come down to the chances your willing to take and if the tube/s is going to be detremental to any pregnancies conceived through IVF. I think it would be a decision you and your FS would need to make over a Gyno.
