Has anyone had it done?

I gave birth 2 weeks ago - had an episiotomy and a 4th degree tear. my stitches ended up opening so the doctor put silver nitrate on in hopes that it would heal but now more stitches opened and I'm left with 2 (or more, I can oly see 2) gaping wounds.

Now they are talking corrective surgery to recut the tear so the incision is straight and sew it back up. Needless to say I am petrified and so mad that I'm going to have to start the healing process all over again

I just want to enjoy my baby girl without all of this pain. Has anyone gone through this?

Aw hunny! I haven't had any experience of this but I didn't want to read and run! :hugs:

I had a few issues after I gave birth with my stitches, two of them came away and I was left with a small gap too, (I also think there was at both ends, top of my labia and in my perenium) but they just left it to heal on its own and it did! I only had a second degree tear so it might be different because of that, but I hope they can help you in some way that doesnt require surgery! I found salt in a bath helped for a 10 minute soak twice a day, and not only that but airing and stuff for 30 mins every day might have helped the healing process too?

I hope you're able to get some better answers hun! :flower:

big hugs hon sounds awful hope its ok for you - Ive got an infection in my war wounds at the mo - hoping it clears up soon - was doubly incontinent so only to be expected I spose - its a lot to deal with when you have a newborn x

I had to be cut and also 4th degree tear... im having repair surgury in feb for a fistula but im 6 months gone nearly xxx

I saw my ob yesterday and although the incision is still open, she said it is now healing well thank god. I've heard horror stories of still feeling pain years later. I just hope that's not the case.

Sorry to hear that, tigger. Are you still in pain where the scars are? When did you first notice the fistula?

It can heal on its own, my stitches opened & fell out on day 2 pp and everything healed but things are more 'open' down there as a result. It looks quite strange to me but the wound itself doesn't cause me any problems. Sex felt different but I've only tried that once! Dr said I could have repair surgery if I wanted, but said I should wait til i'm finished having kids bc i'd probably tear again in the same place. I had a 2nd degree tear.
