Requesting Flexible Hours!! HELP

Hi All,

Just looking for a litle bit of advise.

I have requested flexible hours ( part time ) at work, 2 days a week 16hrs.

The days I have asked for are Tuesday , Wednesday. As if I work a Monday I have the issue with bank holidays.

My work have come back to me to advise I have to work a monday, Tuesday and 1 saturday a month.

The Monday really doesnt work for me as if a bank holiday falls on a monday ( which most do) then I have to take leave for these and also still pay the nursery even though its a bank holiday.


Does anyone know where I stand now if thats all they are offering?

The reasoning behind me working a Monday is to give 2 consecutive days off a month to the other person in my team, who is currently a temp but they are looking to offer a full tome contract!!!!

anyone offer any advise to a very stressed mummy.

You shouldnt have to take leave for a bank holiday hun, they are in addition to your normal holiday entitlement. You should just have the day off like everyone else

Or if your office is open on bank holiday Mondays, do you get double pay or a day off in leiu?

There are only 3 or 4 bank holiday Mondays a year, could your family help you out on those days?

Unfortunately, if your employer can show that for business reasons, it doesnt work to have you work Tue/Wed, then theres not much you can do. You need to find a compromise
 
If monday is a bank holiday you should get paid for it, however it may not be your full daily wage. Again if you can work a bank hoilday you should get paid basic pay plus how much you would earn if you took it as a bank holiday.
