Hi ladies, new to the board :flower: I just found out yesterday I'm pregnant. I had 3 BFPs! :happydance: I can't see my doc till Tuesday though and was wondering if I can still run. I'm an avid runner - I run 4+ miles 5 or 6 days a week and do weight training every day as well. I've had one miscarriage 2 years ago and am scared of doing anything that may not be good for my pregnancy or cause another miscarriage.

Is it ok to continue running every day or maybe a few times a week? Running is so high impact that I'm worried it may not be ok. It will be hard to totally stop though as I really enjoy it, it keeps me in shape, healthy and makes me feel good. Also are there any workouts I should avoid?

Any advice?

Thanks!

My doctor told me it was fine, as long as I was doing it before and I don't push myself or get overheated I'm good to go. :)

I had been running before and lifting so i continued but at six weeks started bleeding so stopped and the bleeding stopped... Just found out at 10w3d i have a low-lying placenta so im thinking thats why... So only walking for me and not lifting anything over 20lbs. But if u have no problems u should be fine to continue but should prolly turn down the intensity... My doc said u should be able to talk and if r too outta breath to talk while working out... U r pushing too hard.

Most Dr will say it is ok if you were doing it before, but sounds like you were doing a lot. If it were me I would just cut back a bit, just so not to put too much stress on my body as we are now doing more growing a little one inside us. Though staying active will help you keep your weight gain to a healthy number!!

The midwife told me pregnancy is a perfect time to exercise, but not to push myself, not to do anything strenuous or cycling as you're more likely to fall and make sure I can breathe normally throughout. She recommended swimming so as long as you take it easy you should be fine.

It's fine as ling as you did it before. If you did heavy weights I would probably lower that down as your not suppose to lift really heavy objects. I ran till 30 weeks with my son then just walked a few miles a day.
