Scan at 5 weeks showed nothing?

I had a scan yesterday to check on an ovarian cyst but the technician also checked for the gestational sac. She told me she didn't see anything, but it might be too early. I've seen so many ultrasound pics at 5 weeks were you can at least see the gestational sac so I am a little worried. She did a transvaginal scan too and still couldn't see anything. I'm pretty sure she checked my tubes too so at least she didn't see anything there. I'm feeling a little worried.

I did notice the computer dates me at 6 weeks without taking into account my longer cycle length (34 days..) so maybe she was expecting something different?!

Some woman just don't have much of anything at that time, You also could be a little earlier than 5 weeks, depending on ovulation, and implantation. When I went in for my 6+1 ultrasound I was put back a day, and then at 8 weeks I was put foward 2 days. Babys grow at different rates. And i've seen women being put back a week on this forum. With long cycles you really have no idea how far along you are.

My first ultrasound at 5 weeks didn't show anything at all. 4 days later I got another one done and there was a sac. It's normal!

I am sure things are ok. I did the clearblue conception digital when I was 6 days late and it came up at 1-2 weeks, I did another yesterday and it showed 2-3 so I'm pretty positive that I'm 5 weeks. Thanks guys, I feel a little better... although I will be ecstatic when I can actually see something!

I went for a scan at 5+5 and all they could see was a sac and a yolk. Apparently yolk sac's dont show up till about 5+4. And before that all you see is the gestational sac. I bet if you had gone just a few days later you would have seen more. Even at my appt at 5+5, I couldnt see the baby yet. It was too tiny. Im sure youre fine

My bloodwork from yesterday came back as positive (Quelle surprise!). The Nurse practitioner was really surprised that I went to test so early or even had an idea that I was pregnant. She said I could be anywhere from 4 weeks 6 days to 6 weeks (although I am fairly certain its more like 4 weeks 6 days to 5 weeks 2 days based on the fact I was away from my BF for a full week right before when I was supposed to ovulate.) She wants me to go test again in a week or two and at that point she will check on things further. She sounded as excited as I am about it! lol

Congrats, everything is perfect and right where it should be at your stage, I really thing you were around the end of 4 weeks, or very begining of 6. A few days can make a big differece on the developing fetus

My doctor did not want me to get an early scan at all (ended up getting one in the hospital, long story)....the reason he was so strict about it was because he said that I would worry if I didn't see the sac, etc. even though he would tell me not to worry! So, please try not to worry. I'm so happy that your levels went up per the digital preg. test! That is great Congrats !

Congrats on the good news I was actually wondering the same thing since, almost three weeks ago, I found out I was pregnant (very faint) and then went to the doctors and there was a negitive on their test. 4 days later and i'm positive I must have been really early cause they didn't find a sac in the scan So I must have been in the same boat as you. My cycles are long like, I might not have a period for a few months long (then again i'm only 19 so it's kinda normal) I was really worried but reading your thread made me feel better I have a scan this Thursday so wish me luck (I made my ticker based on how early I could be so I hope that's really how far along I am)

My cycles aren't too long but they are still 33-34 days on average but I've had cycles up to 40 days long. It's completely possible that the date I thought I ovulated is off so I could be just 4 weeks 6 days and that would explain everything. Good luck!

I had a scan set up for today at 5+3 and the doctor called and wanted to cancel the appointment she said it was too early and she didn't want todo it, she said I wouldn't see anything and pushed my appointment back three weeks, so I would say that its normal to see nothing or little at all.

I am going thru this exact thing now. I am supposed to me 5+1 today but a vaginal scan showed nothing. They suspect either ectopic or that I am earlier in pregnancy they suspected and they are unable to pick anything up.
How did you ladies stories end up? I know I have reignited an old thread but was hoping fpr some reassuring outcomes from these previous stories xXx

That happened with my first! I will never forget reading the words "no gestational sac", I was so scared! I have a beautiful toddler running around though, so don't worry too much
They also told me that I was probably either having a miscarriage or an ectopic. Obviously I had NEITHER

I had the EXACT same thing a couple of weeks ago! Went for an early scan as I have pcos and crazy cycles. Had the scan and the lady said there was "no sign of pregnancy" My other half and I were distraught and they started investigating ectopic by taking bloods etc. Went to my gynaecologist last week and she did a surprise scan on me (which would be a week after the last one) and it showed a 8mm sack! Just shows how quick they grow! I have another scan on Friday (which will be a week since the last) and I'll probably be able to see a lot more

I had a scan at 5 weeks 5 days and they just saw an empty sac. I started stressing because it seemed that most were seeing a yolk sac and fetal pole by then. But a couple of days later, my morning sickness and tiredness kicked in which gave me hope. I'm now almost 14 weeks along and all going fine so far so try not to worry. Everyone is different and everyone's pregnancies progress at different speeds so I'm sure everything is just fine. I have now been put forward by 4 days since the scan at 5+5 so that would actually have made me 6+2 x

Awww yes everybody is different. I thought I was 6 weeks when I was scanned on Monday , all they could see was a sac but nothing in it but blood results from today have showed that my pregnancy is progressing since Monday, progesterone doubled and hcg from 9000 to 13000 so hopefully when we go back next Monday we will see more than an empty sac! It maybe that I was less than 6 weeks!

I went to the EPU and had an early scan today at 5 weeks they said they saw something that was about 1mm but didn't say it was a sac or anything, they said it was too early to tell have another scan at 8 weeks, i'm pretty worried. the test they did was a faint positive even though the ones that i did at home were clearer. guess i'll have to wait and see.
