Scan information..

Hello Ladies

I'm a bit confused & my midwife ain't much help.

I've had a dating scan
12 Weeks scan
20 Weeks Scan

Is that it? It seems abit odd not having another scan..

Yes, thats it Usually your 12 week scan IS your dating scan so youve actually got 1 more than most.

I asked my midwife this the other day and she said yes, unless they have concerns for my LO.

Of course that's just the policy in my local area, don't know what it's like PCT to PCT.

here unless you are high risk you only get the 12wk scan and the 20wk scan, i know omseplaces only do the 20wk scan now and dont do the 12wk dating scan xx

Yes, thats right for the uk.

Just last year in Glasgow it was just a 12wk scan (thats all I had with my daughter) but now it is both 12 and 20wks.

No need for anymore unless there are any concerns.

Unless there's a medical need for another one (low placenta, growth scans etc), that's all you get on the NHS. Still pretty good as I think women in Canada (I think) only get one at 20 weeks.

I'm from Canada and I have gotten 3 ultrasounds. They do one at 32 weeks to check on size, position, cord and amniotic fluid. I don't know if it's like that everywhere in Canada, but here is Saskatchewan thats how they do it.

Hi!

The number of scans apparently depends on the budget available to your PCT.

Where I am (somewhere in South London), ladies also get a final scan between the 30th and the 32nd week.

I've got a friend from a North London borough and her last scan was at 21 weeks.
