Scared to quit smoking...

I quit cold turkey at 12 weeks. I don't look at myself as an ex-smoker. I'm a non-smoker. The first week was rough but now it is much much better!

Quitting won't cause a miscarriage. Stay strong - you can do this!!

hiya, i'm in the same situation, i'm 13+5 and really struggling to stop smoking, i used to smoke 20 a day and have managed to cut down to between 5 -10 a day dependant on whether i am at work or not. I went to see a smoking cessation nurse who told me that doctors do not like pregnant woemn using nrt however i am struggling so badly trying to quit that i'm gonna talk to her about it again.

I do really want to quit, my OH smokes as well, but he is not so enthusiastic about stopping!! i tried quitting by cold turkey and nearly ended up killing my OH!!!

I know how bad it is for my baby to still be smoking and the more pregnant i get, the more the smell of fags on my clothes makes me feel sick, hopefully through using the inhalator (i dont want to use patches and the chewing gum makes me feel sick) and the fact that i think my baby is starting to really dislike the smell, i can quit and stay quit.

Am thinking about the alan carr book as everyone seems to be rating it.

Fingers crossed and good luck everyone

Just wanted to add some information from someone who I was friends with, she tried to quit smoking and it really stressed her out so she was advised to just cut down. She also had a miscarriage after stopping smoking but she went on to have healthy pregnancies :) Good luck whatever you do x

quittin smokin won't cause a miscarriage... but smokin could.
smokin whilst pregnant is sooo harmful... to u nd to baby.
i smoked for 8 years... was on 20 a day for the last 3 years... i didn't think i'd be able to quit smokin but every time i would light up i would imagine my baby with a cig in his mouth... i quit cold turkey at about 6 weeks.
please stop... its the best thing u can do for ur lo.

I have never been a smoker BUT my hubby was a heavy smoker. He would stop for a few years and then go back to it... the final time he has kicked the habit (and its been ... gosh must be 5 years now) he used the inhalators but without the bit inside just liked the action.

Remembered he did have a relapse...He did start again when we lost our baby died last year but gave up quickly after - he used this fake fag that actually puffed out fakey smoke but without any harmfull effect. It was the action of smoking he missed.

Remember every one you cut down is a bonus.... may take a while to find what works (hubby tried patchs, inhalator with the thingy in and cold turkey which didn't work for him). There are some brilliant suggestions on here.

Keep going until you find your way - it will be worth it.
