We have had Elizabeth picked out since about 20 weeks but now am having second thoughts, just think it might be a bit long and old fashoned, our other alternatives are.

Ellie
Lilly
Isobel
Sophia
Olivia
Or
Eliizabeth

What do people think?

Elizabeth is lovely, can shorten to Liz, Lizzy, Beth etc.

My favs tho are Sophia and Olivia x

i think they are all lovely names, i think i still like elizabeth the best but tbh which ever you pick from the list is great (although as a teacher one word of advice is ALOT of children are called Ellie these days so if you pick that you may well find her in a class of 3 or 4 other Ellies!)

I like Ellie oh really wants it but after some ppl pointing out it could get used as smelly ellie or ellie belly i went off it  out of your other choices i really like Olivia, Sophia, Lilly and Isobel but id change it to Isobella :)

nice name choices

xx

I love them all (not so much Ellie though, don't know why) but I do love the nicknameability (<--- made up word) of Elizabeth - so many choices! Same with Olivia I think.

I like Elizabeth. It's so classy and has so many cute nick name possibilities.

I dont like Elizabeth.. it seems a bit of a non name because everybody called it is known by something different.. so its like- why be called it in the first place..

I actually prefer all your other options to it. I totally love Elspeth and Elsie which are derivatives of Elizabeth, but thats just an aside.

I like Elizabeth. Your other choices are nice too, but if Elizabeth was your first choice, I'd stick with it myself!

I like most of your names, but my faves are probably Sophia (my daughter is sofia :winkwink:), Olivia and Lilly.

I do like some of the names that come from Elizabeth, such as Eliza (thinkk its very cute :flower:) and Beth ?? They could be used as names in their own right . Good luck deciding. xx

I have a neice named Elizabeth, and she's the cuttest thing, and has the best nicknames!

I like Elizabeth.. although I am biased... as it is my name! haha I go by Liz! I was I could name my daughter Elizabeth but that would be odd!

I have always loved my name, it fits every personality with all its nicknames!

Personally i prefer the other names on your list... my fav is Sophia!

My little sister was close to be called Elizabeth but, like you my mum wanted to make it a bit more upto date....so called her Libby instead! Shes turned out to be gorgeous looking (damn her getting the best of the family genes!!) and totally suits her name!

just thought is suggest it as its a shortening of Elizabeth! Good luck! xx

(ooh and Sophia is my favorite out of your list!)

I like Elizabeth, don't like Liz or Lizzy but I LOVE Libby and Beth xx

Ooo Libby is cute! I don't personally like the name Elizabeth bc i don't like "Liz" or "Lizzy" or "Beth" or "Betty" or "Eliza" as NN's.... but i do really like "Libby"! Good suggestion!

Personally, I do not like Elizabeth at all.. It's just so....... bland? Yeah, you can make great nicknames, I just don't like it as a whole name.. I like Eliza (or just Liza)

From the others in your list, I like Sophia and Olivia the best, the others are just too common for me.

My name is Elizabeth and to be honest I've only ever been called Liz! It's a lovely name but when I was young I didn't seem to want such a long name. I am thinking of using it as a middle name if I have a girl this time tho.

I like Olivia, but I also like Lizzy short for Elizabeth x
