Semen analysis and semen dna

We got some rather sad news yesterday, our doc called my dh to let us know his semen analysis results. Unfortunately I was still at work, and didn't get all the info first hand.
A few things he mentioned were low motility, rather unlikely, ivf, and he said dh should do dna semen and bloodwork.
Another thing he mentioned was that dna could be faulty was increased chance of autism etc.
This makes me so sad, I knew he would possibly have a low count, but wasnt aware of autism risk, is this a normal accurance with semen analysis like this?
We havr been ttc actively for over a year now, and we had the first appointment at the fertility clinic. It looks like everything is ok with me, even though my cycle now is messed up, which it never was before.
The doc is sending a letter with all the details, but i'm feeling a bit left in limbo.
I'm so confused, sad, and I hope anyone can help from their past experiences, i'm only starting the process of getting fertility help, and today I could really cry...

What was the exact name of this dns test, that your husband did? do you remember?

Hi clara, thanks for your reply, he still has to do it, and we are still waiting to get the letter from the doctor with the analysis, so i'm not sure. Maybe it is to see dna fragmentation?

I think this is maybe SCD test (Sperm Chromatin Dispersion)?

That could be it, I just looked it up, and it sounds like it.
We got a letter confirming we will be eligible for funding for ivf, which is great, but still no notes from doc.
Do you know this procedure? I'm wondering what these two tests can tell us, and what it means in terms for ivf and using my dh sperm. He is concerned that it might not work.
It's a lot to take in, here we were starting ttc, then the doctors referral to the fertilty doc, then first tests, and now go ahead for ivf...totally confusing, I really don't know a lot about ivf.
If he doesn't send us anything by monday, i'm going to ring him up to find out.
