Daisy has never been a milk lover tbh! But now it is a struggle to get her to take enough,
she has 6oz in the morning, sometimes less, and wont drink any through the day then has 7oz of bedtime milk, I know it is supposed to be around 20oz a day but I can't get her to drink it, even on days when she has been picky with her solid food she still refuses to top it all up with milk.

Any ideas on how to coax her into it would be good! HV advised giving her cows milk through the day but she hates it! So does her Daddy though so it doesnt surprise me!:dohh:

Grace went through the same when she was about Daisy's age. She was such a milk lover then all of a sudden she would barely drink a full bottle in a day. I was getting worried but I just kept on offering it to her. It took about 2/3 weeks for her to start drinking more than one bottle. Now she's back to 2/3 7oz bottles. Maybe it's just a phase?

Have you tried adding it to her foods like plenty of cerials with formula? x

I was thinking that it might be, I hope so! :hugs:

Hiya!, yeah I do mix it with her breakfast so that's another couple of oz's but still not getting enough into her, I'll just have to keep trying!

Yes all you can do is keep trying hun, think they all go through stages when they go off it a bit then sometimes they want more...good luck with it x

Hannah has anywhere from 10-14 ounces. She won't take any more than that. And only 5-6 of those actually come in a bottle. We put some in her cereal and the rest goes in a sippy cup (with a straw) throughout the day

Thanks Vickie, i was thinking about moving to a sippy cup for Milk as she seems to enjoy her cup more than her bottle now, will give it a go!

I really wouldn't do the cow's milk at her age, it just doesn't have everything she needs. Maybe mix up like 2oz at a time and offer all during the day instead of full bottles all the time? I know with ours it can be put in the fridge once mixed so it doesn't go bad as quickly so you can just offer her more often? See if she will just take sips here and there? Or maybe even try a sippy, maybe she would like it better? It's probably just a phase, she will probbly pick back up on her own though

Yeah I think I would maybe try giving her milk in a sippy cup like the others have said. Worth a try anyway! x

Yeah i thought the same thing about cows milk when my HV suggested it!

I have been doing the 2oz bottles just so she can have little sips but she screws her face up at it all! I will carry on though, hopefully she will go back to it soon!

Kathryn is exactly the same. I mix her cereal with formula, give her yoghurts and add formula to some of her meals e.g. cauliflower cheese. It's like a daily battle between us to get milk down her and i end up counting ounces!! Mind you I hate milk so I wonder if it's hereditary????

No advice other than the sippy cup route. Hope she starts taking more soon hon! :hugs:

Could be that her gums are really bothering her and the sucking motion hurts when drinking from a bottle.

have you tried different sippy cups? We found that after switching to the cups with straws Hannah started drinking a lot more at a time. Also is she teething? that can affect her intake

 Ethan never drank his forumula from about 12 wks .....I then bought ovultine max stawberry added a tiny amount to flavour it at around 20 wks as he wasnt gaining weight and i was deperate ....he still has stawberry milk for bed

Have you tried juice lately? Anything that she would possibly like better so therefore is refusing the formula?

if she still doesnt take much in a week or so, try giving loads of dairy in her food, cauliflower cheese is a good one, made with full fat milk and loads of cheese, yoghurts, cheesey things!! all just getting that dairy goodness and protein in!!

Thanks girls for all your advice! I am starting to think it could well be her gums being sore, I suspect that she has a tooth finally coming through as she wont let me touch her gums at all!
