I had a 16 week gender scan earlier this week so it wasn't a properly anomaly scan but they took some measurements anyway.
I should have been 15w6d and babies head was perfect, abdomen was a little ahead at 16w4d but femur measurement was only 15w0d and on the 14th percentile. Should I be worried?

I see my midwife next week so will ask her then and obviously will have my anomaly scan in just under a month but I don't want to spend the next month with those measurements hanging over my head.

I really wouldn't worry with my last pregnancy at my 20 week scan and 28 week growth scan my baby's head was measuring large a week ahead and his femur was measuring small a week behind I worried but he was perfectly normal he's just turned two and he's actually tall not short and his head is not big lol! Babies grow at different rates if the sonographer didn't look concerned then I wouldn't worry :)

My nieces legs always seemed to measure behind and we did worry but she is perfect. She is just a small build (as is all my family) and she is perfectly in proportion. Such a beautiful girl.
X

My dd2s femur length was smaller than the rest of her on the scans, lo and behold she is slightly shorter than average with stumpy legs and a big head haha! Babies don't all grow exactly the same, its nothing to worry about Hun x

I have scans every 2 weeks, and at 18 weeks, 20, 22, 24 my DS had a femur measurement between the 19th and 30th centile. Yesterday at 26 weeks his leg has gone to the 50th - guess they were just slow to develop.

Hi Hun, I'm a sonographer. Those measurements are fine. We only worry if they measure 2 weeks behind or more. My own little one measured a week behind at my 19 week scan and now at 21 weeks she had caught up (maybe even a little bigger!)

I'm sure it's fine. Also femur length can be difficult to measure as it depends on the angle it's taken at

Thank you all so much, I am only 5'2" so sounds like if he doesn't catch up then he is going to be a short arse like his mummy, poor little guy!!
Although the slightly larger abdomen my other half has claimed responsibility for, he is picturing a short chubby kid and is already talking about sport clubs we can send him to so he grows up slim haha

At my 12 week scan, her femur measured about a week behind. By my 20 week scan, it'd caught up. Now, however...

This is interesting. I had a private scan at 26+1 - her femur, which we got a perfect clear shot of, was measuring 24w so 2 weeks and 1 day behind. Her head was measuring 28w. Hmm!

Oh dear, I've opened a can of worms! Lol. I'm sure if they were concerned they would tell you. However, Did they measure the humerus? (Arm bone) too? Or have they ordered another scan in a couple of weeks to recheck?

That's good if the head was measuring normal, do you remember the abdomen measurement? That's the most important one xx

Her head was measuring 2 weeks ahead :p They didn't measure her humerus but the abdomen was spot on with my dates. I'm not too concerned - I'm short with a big head myself :winkwink: :haha:

Lol! Good I'm glad you aren't worried. They probably were happy with the visual length of the humerus and therefore didn't feel a need to measure it. The head and abdo measurements sound great too! Xx
