Hello Ladies

Well this month we have hit that big milestone of 1 year TTC I have already had bloods and internal scans done and all came back "normal" (whatever that's supposed to mean) so back of to the docs today and to my utter shock he has referred us to specialist and sent OH for sperm sample (although they think he will be fine as he already has 2 children)

So I should be over the moon happy that they have referred us but instead I feel sick with worry

What if they find something wrong
What if they say they can't help
What if they say we will never have a baby
What if OH sperm results are really bad

Honestly I am sat here in work and could just burst into tears

What should I expect from my first appointment with a fertility specialist?

I am sure they will do their best for you and if they do find something it will give you They can do so much these days, I really hope the appointment goes well

If they DO find something wrong, it's very likely there will be something that could be done! And it's better to get treatment to improve your chances, than to wonder in the dark not knowing. I highly doubt you'll hear that you'll never have a baby. And even the couple who heard that, managed to get pregnant! If your OH test comes back bad, then there's still stuff that can be done to improve it!

Hun, it's a good thing you're going to find out what's going on! And most likely there ain't anything going on, maybe you were just missing out the right dates. Or maybe you just didn't get lucky yet. This TTC thing is so random!

First of all - as they've already done bloods, they will have checked your FSH which ruled out ovarian failure. That is the one and only thing that they wouldn't be able to help with so you already know it's not a worst case scenario.

Your OH's sperm is probably fine given that he has two children.

If you had any major problems, the previous tests would have shown something.

My friend from here recently went to see a FS and was given clomid although they could find nothing wrong with her - they are there to help you get pregnant and will do all they can.

I honestly think that it's still the depo hon - it can affect ovulation for up 18 months apparently or it can cause your womb lining to be too thin to implant on for the same amount of time. I'm glad they referred you though, gives me hope they wont just tell me to sod off when I reach that ever approaching 1 year mark.

Think of it as the beginning of a new chapter in ttc... And you never know, this chapter could end in a few weeks with a BFP! Keep your chin up hun. Your first appointment will probably be nothing more than a chat about your story so far, and based on the info the specialist will just see if there are any further tests they can do to check everythings working ok. You will have plenty of time to ask questions and understand what and why they will do things. Best of luck hun, let us know how you get on xxxxo
