Should I put the sauce on before or after?

I'm going to make a peri peri chicken wrap for lunch, the sauce i've got is just normal (not marinade or anything) do I put it on my chicken before or after i've cooked it?

cook your chicken pieces then 5mins before its done, put your sauce on and simmer until its hot
