i am sick of people saying teen mums live off benfitis, we dont know who the father is to our baby, were slags!! etc!!!!!
the worst thing is ive heard so many people off this forum say it, its bullying!!!

im 20 years old, 19 when i had Lily. Me and Andrew (OH) have been together for 4 years, we have OUR own house, he works, i work, we pay bills, we pay tax!! like every other middle aged woman! but im sick of people saying that all teen mums are living off benefits!! :growlmad::growlmad::growlmad:

sorry if thats not allowed but im just so so so fed up of hearing it these last few days! no wonder us teen mums get a bad rep.
age is only a number but obviously some people think just because there older makes them better mothers! :dohh:

rant over!!!

It's a stigma hun, just a negative one that's portrayed more often than a positive one. Me and my OH both work, pay taxes, have our own place etc but unless we're all gonna walk about with a sign stating that we're good aspects of a teen mum I don't really know what we can do about it...not a lot I don't think xx

I agree with you. Were buying a house early next year, we are more than finacially stable, and both have our education. Ive never been on any kind of benift my entire life.

I agree.
I am 20 (19 when I became pregnant) and my OH is 28.
He works his ass off!

Neither of us claim ANY benefts, I am currenty not working obviously and can't even get income support. Once baby is here I can get CTC and that is all.

We would like our own house, currently living with his mum but the coun cil see it as we are not in need so we will have to stay here.
x

i really dont think it is said about younger moms,I myself was on benefits briefly after my 2nd child as I wasnt able to work but anyways to each their own,If you KNOW you work and YOU know your not on assistance who cares what others think?
Have a nice day

Its the fact that people think because were young mothers we are on some type of benefits, its just the stigmatizum. My mother was on benefits brifely last year when she got laid off to ensure she could support her 2 boys.

There is nothing wrong with going on benefits if you need it, its the fact that people go on it cause they dont want to work and cause they are lazy.

:growlmad: I think they just want to take it out on someone and focus the blame on younger moms even though a lot of older moms are horrible! now in saying that i do know some young moms that are bad moms but not all of them are I'm only 19 annd due in October, I have been living with my fiance for almost 2 1/2 years and together for almost three, and same thing goes we both work and pay taxes and have our own place, we are not on any type of benefits never have been never will be. there are some 30-40 year old moms i know that are just terrible parents going out and drinking all the time and everything:dohh:

Oh defiantly that's what I mean, it annoys me they think were lazy and won't get a job so we can live off benefits. Obviously there will be people who need it :) I agree with you!

I don't know what's been said to who by who etc...
BUT we are ALL (young or old) on this forum because we know we aren't perfect parents and need advice/support on pregnancy, parenting, WTT/TTC and life in general.

Do as you would IRL and just ignore it.

I know this forums for advice, I was just having a rant about it. It's really pathetic that's all.

Agreed age is just a number and what cn older mums do tht we cant ? And I know plenty of older mums who simply cba to work so claim benefits !

Its just the fact that people in generally steriotype teens, where as if they did a study there would be just as many if not more moms on Benefits 25+ as 25-

well as i always say...

when there has been incidents on the news about child abuse/neglect and even children being beaten to death etc. it never seems to be the 'teenage' parents does it?

i just dont see why we have to be separated in society just because of our age group,at the end of the day parenting is a hard job whatever the age, i am so glad ive had/having children at this age now rather than in 10years time... i wouldnt change it for the world!!

I 100% agree, I want to be done having kids by 22-23.

I know i am a good mom, I also know I make mistakes like any mother of any age. I do whats best for my son, and he is more than well taken care of, so personally I do not see the difference. My mom has even said Me and my OH are better parents than many people she knows inculding her and my dad.

Imo taking responsibility of your child when you become pregnant and doing everything you can in your power to provide a good loving home for them makes you alot more mature than alot of people. Your choices in life dictate your maturity, 30 some odd people who are out doing drugs or out at the bar every night just cause they can, is the same as an 18 year old, just cause the number on your ID is different doesnt change reality

Tanara and Aimee I couldn't Agee more, that is exactly what I'm talking about! Xx
