I'm really excited that I finally got signed up for a breastfeeding class. Although I am cutting it a little close. I'm due August 25th and the class is August 13th. :dohh:

So what should I expect during this class? And do you bring your OH with?

I would take OH it might help him understand and b a better support for u. I think they would teach u what to expect and attachment etc.

I had to practice with a doll and knitted boob when i went!! Fun fun fun!!

Yes, take your DH as he will be very important support for BFing. My DH was wonderful in supporting me when I was first nursing, he would help me position our baby just right, remind me of different positions to use, and keep track of which side I had nursed from last. He knew from our classes how much support and help I would need and how much hard work BFing is at the beginning, so he was never suprised and always supportive.

Your answers come as a relief because I hate going to strange places without my OH. Plus, I hate driving, even in my little town.

I was also happy because I think he should come with me so that he can have a better understanding of it all and will better be able to support me. So I feel better about that now.

*This part doesn't follow this thread, but I didn't want to make a new one"

I know for sure they'll give me some numbers for support for breastfeeding after the baby is born, but I'm a little concerned about about being "exposed" to strangers. That was one of the major things that put me off from breastfeeding my first. It goes hand-in-hand with the public breastfeeding issue, too. I feel like I'm going to be stuck in the house until she's weaned.

Any ideas on how to get past this anxiety I have over people seeing my boobs?

You just need wait until you are feeling more confident about your latch and then practice feeding under a cover. There are a few girls on here who thought they'd never feed in public but they do it all the time. When they are tiny babies IMO it's even easier to feed dicreetly in public....it's when they want to look around during a feed that you have to learn quick cover up techniques!!
