SIL has picked same name as me. has specail meaning for both of us :(

Hey

I am so cross, I don't even know why I am posting here as I have already decided I'm not going to use the name now but DH has said its a non issue and not up for discussion we are still using the name but to me its a big big no no.

My SIL is also my best friend. I have known for years that if we had a 3rd boy he would be named after DH. My SIL is due in November (I'm not due until April) and she just announced to me she will be calling her boy Joseph after her father in law as her DH regrets not calling their first son after him.

I am so upset I know there is nothing I can do she is due first.

I just so annoying its not just a name that I liked, it has meaning. Its even more upsetting that DH is adament we are still using it. He cannot see the ackwardness of it all.

The two kids will be very close as I said she is my sister in law and also my best friend.

Now I may have a girl and this won't be an issue but as I said I'm just so annoyed and upset. Its not even her fault she wants to call the baby something else but her DH says no he is choosing this time.

Aww can you use Joseph as a middle name maybe?

If you and DH are set on it then go for it, but you're still super early and not sure if it'll be a boy, so no need to worry about it just yet

Honestly, I think you should use the name if you love it. I'm on your DH's side, I don't actually think it's awkward at all.

There are good, obvious reasons for you both choosing that name, it's not like you would be copying her because you couldn't come up with anything else.

If the boys are close, they will probably LOVE that they have the same name. They will be like a little badass gang all of their own right away.

You can give them each their own nickname for differentiation, even just something that the close family use when they are together. I think it would be quite fun.

I have a feeling this one might have pig tales so maybe it won't be an issue. I'm pretty sure she is having a boy but we'll see. April seems like an eternity away anyway

I named my oldest son Christopher ..He was born 1991..My SIL also had a baby in 1996 and named him Christopher after her husband..I didn't get offended or think anything of it..I was a none issue with us..I would still use the name, I think it's nice cousins have the same name .... XO
