I've been reading you shouldn't sleep on your back. But it's hard to only sleep on my sides. It gets boring and uncomfortable. Anyone still sleeping on their back?

I think at 14 weeks it isn't a problem, it is when the bump gets heavy and is putting pressure on your blood vessels that it is problematic. I was told that sleeping how you are comfortable is the most important thing to worry about, you will get uncomfortable eventually and that is when you should stop (I think). I'm nearly 17 weeks and I have only just stopped sleeping on my stomach in the last week because it has only just become uncomfortable and I have seen a very happy wiggly baby on ultrasound and have a big old bump so I know sleeping on my front hasn't done him any harm.

Sleep how you want whilst you can would be my advice and make the most of it whilst you are still comfortable.

slept on my back with my previous babies and only way can sleep with this one due my sickness and heartburn :)

I still find myself waking up on my back. Earlier I lay down after my shower to put moisturiser on my bump and I fell asleep :haha: I woke up an hour later, still on my back.

It can be a problem as the weight of your bump can reduce your blood flow, but you'd feel dizzy and light-headed allowing you to move before this became a problem.

I still sleep on my back. Your body will tell you when/if you need to stop.

I still lay on my back, but switch between that and lying on my right side a lot. If I lay on my back to long, my little bugger keeps me awake lol

As already mentioned, at 14 weeks you don't need to worry about sleeping on your back yet. I've found my body is naturally changing sleeping positions as my pregnancy progresses. I just stopped sleeping on my stomach this week. I still fall asleep on my back, but the rest of the night, I've noticed I switch frequently from my left to right side.

This is reassurance to me too as I can only fall asleep on my back!!

I recently stopped sleeping on my stomach as well, not because it hurt but because it feels like I'm laying on top of something hard, haha.

I'm still sleeping on my back at 30 weeks! I asked my OB about it and she said your uterus is not heavy enough to crush your vena cava. She said back sleeping is fine. As some of the others said, if it does become a problem your body will just shift position to correct it. I read an article the other day about pregnancy myths and back sleeping being a no-no was one of them. Sleep away and don't worry! Sufficient sleep is far more important than position.

My NHS consultant said sleeping on my back was fine as long as it's comfy as we shift position anyway when asleep so can't help but sleep on our backs. He said it's fine - and he was Kate Middleton's obstetrician so I trust him ;)

Im mainly a stomach, and side sleeper, but I wake up every 2 hours, pee then look at the ceiling until I fall asleep again. Its such a process.

You will know when you should stop. I can't sleep on my back anymore. I get lightheaded almost immediately.

I bought a pillow that reminds me not to sleep on my back, I start as soon as I find out I am pregnant so by now it is habit. I usually sleep on my stomach so this has been a change for me!

I could not sleep on my back anymore, it makes me feel funny, and makes the baby go crazy. Oh I dread the days of having to wake up in order to switch sides, enjoy the sleep whilst you can, whichever way you lie!

I try to sleep on my left side, but often find myself in other positions when I wake up :haha:

I'm still sleeping on my back :) I find myself on my stomach sometimes too! It's crazy to me since I'm so far along lol but I think your body will tell you when you can't sleep on your back anymore.
