Ok so I have a really bad time getting to sleep sometimes :(

I've only got a month left of uni so I'm super busy with work :coffee:
So I need my sleep!! O:)

Does anyone have any opinions or know anything about the effect of taking sleeping tablets on TTC?
Also I'm only days away from ov so don't want to mess that up :(

They do say on the box DO NOT TAKE IF PREGNANT

xx

My doctor told me to stop them and take Benadryl from time to time when I can't sleep. But not everyday because you'll lose this effect.

Hope this help x

I take an ativan b4 bed, cant sleep without I used to use gravol but my dr told me that was not a good idea and gave me ativan, I dont take it after O tho.

I take valerian. Can get it at the health food store. its safe because its natural. And my doc is the one that told me its okay and safe during pregnancy. It is amazing. Take it every night:)

Thanks shaerichelle
I'm gona go have a look for that

xx

Your welcome. There are three ways to take it. capsule, tincture or phytocaps which is like the tincture in capsules. I started with one and now I take 2.. 1-2 hours before bed. I love it. :)

here's what I found about valerian

Because the compounds in valerian produce central nervous system depression, they should not be used with other depressants, such as alcohol, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, or opiates.[14][15][16] Moreover, nonpregnant adult human hepatotoxicity has been associated with short-term use (i.e., a few days to several months) of herbal preparations containing valerian [17]. Long-term use in a male has also been associated with benzodiazepine-like withdrawal symptoms resulting in cardiac complications and delirium [18].
The very limited animal and human data do not allow a conclusion as to the safety of valerian during pregnancy. Moreover, as a natural, unregulated product, the concentration, contents, and presence of contaminants in valerian preparations cannot be easily determined. Because of this uncertainty and the potential for cytotoxicity in the fetus and hepatotoxicity in the mother, the product should be avoided during pregnancy. Other authors have arrived at the same conclusion [14][15]. The risk to a fetus from short-term or inadvertent use during any part of gestation, however, is probably low, if it exists at all.

First of all this is regulated to me by my naturopathic doctor. Second of all... Do you realize what the regular medication does to your body, let alone the side effects? I would never put medication into my body especially while ttc! Those do more harm to you and the fetus than natural stuff. At least you know what is in the valerian.

maybe2010 I think you should hold off! sedatives similar to alcohol are generally bad for the bod and can be fatal to a growing embryo. I would want your body to be a clean healthy drug free temple for TTC! I am sorry you are losing sleep, maybe if you get worn out enough over a couple days then you finally will be able to conk out to sleep naturally.

I have no idea of what this product is. So I was curious and checked online and this is what I got, maybe it's true maybe it's not. Just be aware that natural products can have interaction with other non-nature drug, so ask your pharmacist and you'll be fine.

Also i didn't find any soy flav. :nope:

And a note about natural drugs - Most doctors will strictly prohibit you from taking any natural drugs while pregnant. The FDA does not support that and there is no research to say it is safe for your baby. I am five and a half weeks pregnant and just had my first doctors visit and was specifically told to avoid any natural substances. There are even certain teas you can't drink while pregnant because of the herbs.

And - I have insomnia and actually took an ambien when I didn't know I was pregnant. I was meticulously tracking everything and thought I would know the second I got pregnant. Well, my husband and I only BD once and it was five days before I ovulated. Never in a million years I thought I would get pregnant. I asked my doctor about it and she said it is fine. So many people take over the counter or prescription drugs and drink alcohol without knowing they are pregnant. You can't stress over it. Just try to prevent it as best as possibly to the best of your knoweldge.

Ambien is a drug! Yuck I wouldnt take these things if I was pregnant. Its all chemical based and its going to your baby.

The FDA is crap. We dont need them to regulate what has been around for thousands of years.

Shannon, do you have any suggestion to improve insomnia that doesn't involve drugs or natural stuff ? Like any relaxion thing ? I'd like to be able to sleep by myself for once.
