Hey guys,

I know now that LO is teething so this could account for some of the night wakings over the last 6 weeks or so....but I've just realised that we sleep with our bedroom lamp on! It's a habit we started when she first got home and have continued with it ever since. Do you think this could be contributing to her waking up?

If I try turning it off tonight do you think it would confuse her too much? I feel terrible as she has become used to light ALL the time and I didnt even think about it till now. I'm worried it's a habit I will find hard to break now. Eeek.

Katie used to sleep with the tv on but one nite i just turned it off n had the room dark, it didnt make a dufference rly but if anythin she goes off easier xx

Light can be a stimulant... Jamies room is pitch black... he sleeps better since we made it that dark x

Evan goes to sleep much better with the light off. I only realised this after I moved him into his room :)

We have a night light. Just enough to see by, but not so bright it should affect his sleep.

I used to sleep with the light on, and yes it made a massive difference to Skye's sleeping! As soon as we turned it off at night, it made a difference and she slept much better :flower:

Both mine sleep better without the light, but can both sleep well with it too. x

Maybe try a dull night light, as mentioned above? Enough to see by (for those night checks!) but not enough to stimulate?

Evan has a light on his monitor base which is barely noticable but enough so I can see where I am going and locate the dummy :)

Thanks everyone!

I cant believe I havent thought of this till now, almost 6 months down the line! :dohh: It might not make a difference but then again anything is worth a try. The lamp is pretty bright as well, i'm such an idiot!

We have the monitor with the light on and even though she's in our room it's on all the time so I might try that tonight. I have a dimmer lamp I could use but it makes a creepy buzzing sound!

Shall update tomorrow if it works!

This is a good product to use... it gives a bit of soft light and at a glance you can check the room temp by the colour ....https://www.gro.co.uk/Gro-egg.html

I think we had a result

I went to bed just after 11 and she woke at 1 for a short feed then slept till 5, short feed then slept till 7!

Usually she wakes about 11/12 then every 1.5 hrs until about 6am!

It mighta just been a good night but the light will be off from now on!
