How dangerous is sleeping on your back? Cos I always start of on my sides and roll onto my back when I'm asleep. And I feel more comfier on my back then my sides xx

its dangerous because it lessens the blood supply to the baby and so it gets less oxygen, I had the same problem as you, I just put a pillow behind my back, to stop me rolling on it x

I find it really umcomfy sleeping on my sides, Jayden kicks me like mad lol

i know the feeling hun lol.
just think though, you only need to sleep on your side for approx 5 more weeks (:

maybe even less :D

x

I dont think its dangerous for baby its just dangerous for you as all of the pressure on ur vessels and things but i think as long as it doesnt make u feel uncomfortable then its perfectly fine
xx

its dangerous for the baby, I slept on my side, but while in the labour they had me on my back and his heart rate kept dropping, but once I was on my side he was fine.

I actually didn't realise it can do that, okay the side it is tonight :) x

I don't think it's 'dangerous' as such, i think you will naturally find a position that you are comfy in. Personally, i can't lie on my back for long as i can't breathe that well x

I sleep on my sides, but turing over to the other sides really hurts, thanks to my SPD.
I always fall to sleep on my right hand side and when rolling over in the night I kinda have to stop on my back for a while and get the energy to roll over, God, I sound so attractive :haha:

xxx

I can't lay on my back anymore i find it to hard to breathe, then I started to get like I don't know some kind of spasms in my back and end up in agony xx

hmm and you don't think not being able to breath as well isn't "dangerous " :dohh:

I think it's bad for blood supply or something like that... better be safe than sorry I guess :)

I asked my midwife because I can't sleep on my sides because of my SPD and I already had previous hip problems. She said it's fine because I'd wake up or turn over naturally if something happened and that while they say left side is the optimum position for blood flow to bubs it really doesn't make that much of a difference. Lying on your back is dangerous for the mum not baby as the baby can sometimes in rare case lie on a vein which stops you breating.
