Hiya Girls,

last 3 bloods were

179
334 and
504

Each 3 days apart, Dr is concerned its ectopic, only 6+1 today, no bleeding no pain. Had the EPAU call this morning for a scan on Friday and confirmed they would send me in for a Lap if they didnt see anything in the Uterus.

If its not in the uterus, then why cant they just give me the Shot to dissolve it in the tube? Anyone have any idea why they have to do a lap?? if its not in the womb, its obviously in the wrong place?

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks

Claire

I just had an ectopic but it took days of scanning and blood hcg to detect it and then it ruptured.
I dont want to frighten you but please try to push them to do the laparoscopy asap as if you leave it too late the option of methotraxate will be gone and you will need surgery.

I am writing this hardly able to walk or stand three days after surgery and no one tells you before hand how physically demanding it is to have a tube removed.

I truly wish you the best and hope that everything will be ok, but time is of the essence and I believe had they been more decisive with me then I wouldnt be lying here flat on my back in excruciating pain!

I had a lap and removal of right tube in jan, however i had bleeding and pain from 4 weeks onwards!

6 weeks is quite far so thats probably why they want to see if it defintly is, and wheter its safer to operate..

I had no bleeding or pain wth my ectopic, just like you i only had slow rising hcg. It wasn't actually confirmed as ectopic, they only said it was a 'suspected ectopic'.They scanned me at 6ish weeks and saw 'something', then they monitored my bloods for a further 2 weeks (which rose really slowly), then scanned me again externally and internally and saw nothing so treated it as ectopic, i got the shot when i would have been around 8 weeks, If i were you i'd push for the methotrexate, its a pain waiting 3 months to try again but at least it's not invasive x x

Woah!! you have to wait 3 months??? Jeez, why's that?

because the drug itself can cause miscarriage and birth defects (limb abnormalitys and cleft plates). Having said that, i went to see the doc a few weeks ago as i still hadn't had a period nearly 7 weeks after my hcg was down to 4, also because i had a few other questions.... anyway he said a dose the size they give you would be out your system in a matter of weeks, however the info sheet the hospital gave me (they never talked me through it or told me about the wait either, they were bloody useless) said to wait 3 months!!!

sorry to hear what you're going for Claire. Hope that you get some resolution soon.

I'm going in for an EPRC tomorrow, but that is for a missed miscarriage. Can I ask, if you've had no bleeding or pain, why are they testing your blood? Have you had previous pain or bleeding? Sorry to ask so many questions, I just don't know a great deal about how ectopic pregnancies are detected.

I really hope that you get a speedy and safe result.

Mazza2003, I really hope that you start to feel better soon.

Crikey! Thats harsh! Did it affect your period coming back then? I never thought I'd say "I hope its a normal MC" but I really hope it is! :(

Poor you, cant beleive that didnt tell you, esp if it causes birth defects! Appauling!

For what its worth I really didnt want the methotrexate as I felt anything that killed cells could only be bad, particlularly since you cant try again for 3-6 months. THAT SAID...
I am in agony and am unwelll after surgery. I will be off work for at least 3 weeks.

Given what I know I would have opted for methotrexate, although it was left so late in my case that became not an option. Please please please get seen early and dont rule this option out.

Let me know if I can do anything,
M

im thinking of you and sending you lots of strength and

I think it must have done something a bit strange but then again if you go from being pregnant to not being pregnant its got to take some adapting i suppose!??

The hospital were rubbish, they were trying to give me a second shot of it (which i refused to have) because my levels hadn't done what they should in the 7 days they allowed. I pointed out it wasn't really 7 days cos i had the shot on a Tuesday evening and the last bloods were took Monday morning......how does that equate to a full 7 days???? I TOLD them i would be back on wed for more bloods and if they hadn't dropped i would consider the second shot. Luckily they did what they were supposed to!

I also got a call from a snotty nurse after i refused the second shot saying I was being a 'silly girl and endangering my life' (my reply was it's my life to endanger)

Then to top it all off, a distant family member from my husbands side whom i've never met saw my notes (shes a nurse) and decided to say to my in laws 'I'm sorry about Jess and her ectopic, hope she's ok'..... We hadn't even told anyone I was pregnant!!!!!!! THE SILLY COW:trouble::grr::growlmad:

On a positive note, the last nurse I saw for my bloods said i did the right thing, the second shot wasn't necessary! rant over

 i had emergency ectopic surgery mid jan and it tokk my pushing that something was wrong. several ultra sounds and BT's ..i had bleeding in 3 of my last pregnancies which turned out fine but when i saw the super dark blood i know there was a problem,,,,the docs told me they most likely would have to remove my tube (left one). long story short ...they did save my tube as the fetus was moving down already..the pain after is horrible but if it makes you feel better at least i have a tube cus it was caught earlly. Try to ask as many questions as you can and know that it could save your life!! hang in there sweetie...myheart is with you :hugs: :hugs:

i am sorry you are going through this! i had my right tube removed in september! an i stil had to wait 3months! i hope that you get your answers soon!!
an nurse is not allowed to say anything to any one without your permission no matter if she knows you or not!! officially you can sew her if you really wanted!!
i hope you get your answers soon!! i know the waiting an the uncertainty is awful if you need any help or advice from someone who has been there feel free to message me :hug:
