Just wondering if anyone had had the same experience. I am currently breatfeeding and bottle feeding and began with LO on SMA gold. She really struggled to pass stools and was very red faced and uncomfortable. The result was a thick green poo which I am assuming is the SMA mixed with yellow soft stool which I am assuming is the breastmilk. I thought i would try Aptamil as I have heard good stories of this and lo has been having this for the last 4 days. Her poo has returned to a mustard yellow as with breastmilk but it is really runny like water, literally soaking her nappy and running out! Has anyone had this experience? Not sure whether to try cow and gate or stick to the aptimal for longer and see if it improves as Im worried about all this change for her. Any advice appreciated - oh she is almost 10 weeks old.

SMA mde my son constipated too so we changed to Cow & Gate which has been much better overall. We also make sure we give our son 1-2 oz of water a few times a week.

Apparently Aptamil and Cow & Gate are made by the same company, just a different mix of ingredients. Both brands are supposed to be very good for gas, but my LO got gas from Aptamil, so we switched to Cow & Gate earlier this week. Unfortunately we switched to the regular infant milk, and not the Comfort milk, which is the one that's apparently good for colic and constipation, so I haven't yet noticed a difference. She has a lot of pain passing wind, but poohs she has no problem with. I think to give it a fair go, you need to wait about a week to see the results; but if she's in pain, perhaps speak to your HV and see what they suggest. My LO only had diorrhoea when she had an upset tummy, so not directly tied to Aptamil. I would try the C&G if Aptamil carries on like this.

Aptamil tends to mimic BF babies, yellow runny poo!, my LO has been on it for 4 months and its only just sort of solidifying a bit now. He does tend to leak when he needs to go up a size in nappies. Give it a couple of days for your LO's tummy to sort itself out. It may feel like yr LO has the runs, sounds very normal to me x

Can I just add that my LO's pooh was only ever yellow when I was combi feeding (BF & FF). When I stopped BF and solely FF, her pooh went a dirty brown immediately; despite being on Aptamil

Thanks everyone -just gonna keep on the Aptamil / BF and see how it goes. Shes not in any discomfort now which is the main thing. She is just moving up a nappy size too so that might help with the soiled closes hehe.
